yeah yeah i know they're dumb and better options are out there but a client asked me to assist with setting one up, so please all opinions aside...

working in the basic "picture book" theme, the preset image frames seem to behave almost randomly when you mess around with horizontal and vertical images.

i did some combination of placing/removing images that got me 6 images on a page in 2 horizontal rows, not a listed layout optioins and i now cannot replicate.

anyone know the trick? i googled and found one web page that sounded like it had a list add/remove combo tricks to force these things, but of course the URL is now dead.

question:

if i want to limit the usage rights on some illustrations and graphics i'm creating for merchandise, am i shooting myself in the foot by billing hourly? will this legally waive my rights as the artist and create an "employee" scenario where employer retains rights to work created on the clock?

yes a flat fee would make more sense but tricky to quote on this particular job as the details are still TBD.

anyone know the legal facts?

illustrator users: anyone know a trick to quickly change the color of a black and white pattern tile WITHOUT having to edit the original swatch vectors?

i'm thinking their must be some technique with an overlay color field combined with transparency, but haven't been able to figure it out.

i know effect Lighten will invert my pattern's blacks to white, but i'd like to quickly experiment with colors without having to create new swatches.

any ideas?

i was just going to start a FMT thread and got thinking...

wouldn't it make more sense if they were a weekly monday-friday+ and dated accordingly, so like this week's would be:

i know fridays is the current naming convention but it just seems kinda dumb to lookup the coming friday in my calendar.

anyone know the trick to getting clean photos off an LCD screen?

i've read advice that the shutter speed should match refresh rate, and then some conflicting comments that LCD's don't have refresh rates.

i screwed around with different speeds and getting somewhat random results.
