i'm thought i could import vectors from illustrator and create a font set using fontographer, it doesn't appear like its possible to import them unrastered.

is there another program i can use to work this way?

sorry it's a dumb question but i haven't designed a font before.

I just joined imagekind.com - from what i can tell this is the easiest way to sell art online. they pay for all the printing, framing and shipping, all you have to do is upload your artwork or photos. you make 100% of your markup and a percentage of framing if the customers get it framed.

i did a search on the filter for this and didn't see anyone talking about it - has anyone used this site much? i stuck a couple images up there this afternoon - interested to see how well the site works.

Facebook group vs fanpage Mar 17, 09, 8:57 p.m.

I started an FB group and it now has over 5,000 members which is great but this means I am no longer allowed to send updates to people in the group. Also Facebook no longer offers the option to change a group into a fan page (which would allow for updates to be sent to fans)

I was just wondering if people had any input about the benefits of having a fan page vs a group for a company/website. especially now that facebook has altered the way that fan pages work...

the mini dvi to dvi adapter - its sooo annoying that the part that fits into the macbook doesn't fit too securely in place. this problem is magnified by the fact that the cable it connects to on the other end is so huge that its just a matter of time before the prongs are bent from the weight of the cable and i have to buy another adapter.

anyone else experience this?

Trent Reznor and company just put out their Ghosts album (free download of the first volume, $5 download of the whole 4 volume set) and they just announced that they have partnered with Youtube to have a film festival of sorts, fans submit visuals to the songs - sounds like it could be fun!

"Today we announce the expansion of the Ghosts project into the visual world. This record began as an experiment with us using sound as a means to describe visuals. Early in the project we thought it would be interesting to see what the community could create / collaborate on as a reaction to the music we were making. We wanted to keep the canvas as blank as possible for you, hence the lack of descriptive song titles and the primarily textural artwork and packaging.
So here's the plan: we've teamed up with YouTube to host a "film festival" around Ghosts. The concept is for you to take whatever tracks you feel inspired by from Ghosts and create what you feel should accompany them visually. You will be able to see all of the submissions, and a team of us (including me) will be sorting through them and setting aside ones we feel are exceptional. Eventually (within a couple of months?) we will present a virtual "film festival" with me and some special guests presenting selections of your work.
This isn't a contest and you don't win elaborate prizes - it's meant to be an experiment in collaboration and a chance for us to interact beyond the typical one-way artist-to-fan relationship. We've discussed some interesting ways this could go, including multiple installments of the online "film festivals," to broadcast TV specials, to a one-time live performance of the entire Ghosts record with your visuals involved. It really depends on how this progresses and develops.
