Ad/Commercial Photographers Mar 19, 14, 9:53 p.m.
Who are some of your favorites?
Looking for polished, well-edited, advertising/commercial photographers (lifestyle, automotive, etc.).
I am familiar with Joel Grimes, Dave Hill, Erik Almas...looking for any examples/sites that I may have missed.
Images like this:
Gmail photo colors Mar 16, 14, 5:15 p.m.
Is this a known problem with gmail - photographs do not display correctly (colors are off). Both the preview image and when you enlarge look horrible.
Same email in Yahoo or Outlook look fine (preview sucks in Yahoo too, colors are off/desaturated, but look fine when you enlarge).
Notes: same image sent from Gmail looks fine in Yahoo and Outlook, so Gmail isn't changing anything, just making things look bad.
Viewing in Chrome.
(I've noticed Dropbox does the same to the images and had to stop using it for my photography...back to emails via Yahoo)
Monitor Stands Feb 1, 14, 11:54 a.m.
Looking for a clean, simple, attractive (at least not ugly) monitor stand for my Dell 30".
Time Keeping Jan 7, 14, 7:12 a.m.
Anyone have a good, simple software (for PC) for keeping track of time?
I need to keep track of others time and give them something simple to use to report/track.
Toggl (https://new.toggl.com/#) seems pretty good, anything else?
Note takingon iPad Sep 27, 13, 11:40 a.m.
Looking for a good, simple app for note taking.
Ideally, something I could type and use a stylus to draw any little diagrams
Yahoo Mail Down Sep 5, 13, 7:19 a.m.
Is anyone else having problems with Yahoo's mail? I can't login to any of my accounts (goes right back to homepage, no errors, etc.)
PDF Editing Aug 30, 13, 6:36 a.m.
Looking for a simple (ideally free) program to edit PDF's that have security/password.
I just need to add notes/comments and would prefer not to have to go back to clients.
Funny that I can use GoodReader on my iPad, but can't use Acrobat. Annoying, really.
Photo Viewer Jun 30, 13, 8:41 a.m.
What is everyone using for quick previews of images? I liked the simple Windows Photo Viewer, but on my new computer everything is soooo dark (doesn't matter the color profile, etc., and looks fine in Lr, Ps, Quicktime, etc.).
I just want something super fast to preview the jpgs, I am fine with Lr and Ps for organizing and editing.
Project timekeeping software Jun 18, 13, 6:05 a.m.
Looking for some very basic software to keep track of time per projects.
Something really simple...I used Plock ages ago, but it ended up not compatible with Windows 7 (can't seem to find it now).
Any suggestions? PC compatible please
Helvetica Neue Alternatives Apr 22, 13, 7:38 p.m.
Looking for alternatives for Helvetica Neue Thin/Ultra thin. Found a billion, but most don't have the ultra thin option.
Ideally something that I can buy just the thin versions or somewhat reasonably priced
Laptop Feb 14, 13, 7:10 a.m.
Looking for a new laptop.
1. Looks decent
2. NO stupid numerical keyboard on right side (my God, why the hell do they all come with this now??! I've never, not once, used mine on my reg keyboard...my bookkeeper uses it. I am not a bookkeeper)
3. Powerful enough for light 3D, video, PS, etc.
15" (don't think i want another 17")
(I love the MacBook quality and screen, but am liking Window's 8 touchscreen functionality. iOS looks so dated, too)
Hacked Federal Website Jan 26, 13, 12:23 p.m.
(surprised no one has posted this already)
I am not sure whether I should be scared or what...certainly fascinating...
Minimalist WP Jan 23, 13, 5:27 p.m.
Looking for minimarlist WordPress themes/templates.
Something like this:
One of the best I have seen - looks like a nice portfolio site, not the usual grid/blog/generic look.
MT Dec 19, 12, 8:41 a.m.
No Media Temple posts yet?? Looks like the entire thing is down (at least for half my sites). No email, no websites, no FTP access.
iPads for clients (and video) Dec 7, 12, 7:21 a.m.
Giving a client an iPad for a present.
Does anyone know if there is a way to put our video on it without setting up a iTunes account (as it will be handed over to them)?
Is there a way to 'lock' the iPad so the video doesn't get erased when they setup their iTunes on it (assume they'll want to)?
Or is iTunes simply going to make it impossible (and I should sell it, go buy an Android or Windows device?)?
Photoviewers Nov 25, 12, 8:06 a.m.
Suggestions for programs to view photos with quickly?
I've always used Windows Photo Viewer, but apparently it can't figure out color profiles and displays everything horribly (and there doesn't seem to a good fix from the pages I've been reading. Photos look correct in everything else from FF to PS).
Photography sites Nov 24, 12, 6:02 p.m.
Looking for basic customizable photography websites.
[getting some weird "Error: Body: your request has been denied..." when I include the details]
Email Nov 20, 12, 6:51 a.m.
Looking for suggestions for a good place to host email. I've been using MT for a decade but have been growing increasingly frustrated with them (not to mention they aren't cheap and do not offer unlimited storage).
The regulars (blue, dream, etc.)?
Contracts and Changes Nov 16, 12, 7:33 a.m.
What, if any, language do you include with your contracts for design changes (within the original scope)?
Our contract doesn't include any specific and there has never been a problem in many years, but about time to update the contracts.
iOS 6 Photo Importing Nov 8, 12, 10:48 a.m.
Anyone know of a way to sort photos after importing? The last iOS simply organized them by alphabet. Extremely annoying (especially since you can't import subfolders), but it was at least consistent.
I don't want an app to have to go to (though if there was one that could replace Apple's photos, or at least sync with imported files - I don't want to manually organize, I have apps for that)
Suggestions? Quick searches conclude that this is a bug with iOS 6, did they really screw this up to?
