Flash for TV

I just got commissioned at the last minute to do some Adobe Flash animations for a TV program. The specs they gave me are:
"The show is SD NTSC DF, Aspect Ratio is: Anamorphic (16:9 squeezed down to 4:3). We will need a full res quicktime (.mov)..."

I'm guessing the anamorphic thing means it's 16:9 with letterboxing to fill in the 4:3 area, but what size do I make my stage to fit these specs?

A couple friends of mine showed me a portrait that this artist had drawn for them and it was shockingly ugly, but well drawn. Here's about a hundred more of them.

Anybody use this type of service? How reliable is it and is it quick? And most importantly, will I be able to play WoW with it without suffering ridiculous lag? ;)

Flash Slide Presentations

I'm trying to make a Flash Slide Presentation in Flash CS3 for the first time. Each slide contains animations on the timelines. When skipping back to a previous slide, it only shows the final frame of the animation. I'd like to know if it's possible, when skipping forwards and backwards, to show the entire animation of the slide instead of just the final frame.

Working Overseas

I am hoping to find a GD firm in Germany, hopefully either in Nuremburg or Munich, any suggestions how I would go about doing this? I am already learning German on my own time.

Would it be extremely difficult to find a place who will hire me and pay me enough to live in my own apartment?

Firms in Germany

How hard would it be for a Canadian like myself to find work in Germany and get paid enough to live in my own cozy apartment?

For the Inline haters

I hate dealing with a$$hole skateboarders who think they're the $hit just cause they skateboard. inlining is a sport, too, and just cause you skateboarders are following a trend doesn't make you cool. If you have any doubts that inlining is dope, check out www.deshtruction.com, click on Team, then click videos.

Night School in Ontario??

I'm looking for an adult learning centre, or some kind of school where I can take night courses in German. I'm living on the western outskirts of Toronto, and some day I want to work in Germany for a few months. Anybody know of any places where I can take such a course?

Some of those packages are pretty funny. how about "Poot", or the one with the iMac on it?

Wonder if some of those got in trouble for copyright infringement.

Intelligent Scaling?

I'm trying to make the scrollbar widgets on my site proportional in size to the amount of content it's displaying. i.e. The more content, the smaller the scrollbar widget.

The content is in GIF format (for faster scrolling).

javascript problems

http://www.cdgdisplays.com/flash…

Go to Products menu and select Pop-Up Units. Once information of units loads, click on More Info. I tried to embed javascript links into the flash GoToURL code, and it only seems to work on a Mac, and apparently only on Safari. PC users are complaining that the link makes the background window go to a page saying [object]

How can I fix this?

3D photography

I'm having fun using my digital camera's panoramic photo features and stitching them together in Photoshop CD's "Photomerge" feature. What I want to try next is take a full 360° panoramic and bring it into Quicktime VR so that it's got that "virtual camera" kind of feel to it. Has anyone tried this before? If so, how can I start?

Apple Laptops

I'm thinking of buying a Mac laptop (don't waste your time recommending a PC) to replace my G4 iMac (800 mhz w/ superdrive, 15" screen, 32mb geforce mx)

I'm leaning towards the Powerbook G4 family because I will need this laptop for photoshop, flash, illustrator, and possibly some gaming. I talked to a guy at the Apple store and he recommended the 12" powerbook, but I like the features of the 15" model better (faster processor, faster bus, better video card). I require mobility and will theoretically be plugging it into a 2nd monitor half the time anyways when i do my work.

So should I settle for the 12" model and save some money, or should i splurge for the 15" model with the better video card? keep in mind that I love to play games when i'm not working, so the 64mb vid card would be nice...

Javascript Help

This is a really simple thing for you guys probably, so I'm expecting a quick response to this one...

My current page features links from a flash environment telling a window to pop up at a certain size and without address bars, etc. My first intention was to make this a javascript link directly in the flash file, but when I tested the site out on a windows computer, it didn't work. It only seems to work on a Mac. Could someone on a PC check out my link and tell me what I'm doing wrong? Thanks...

Choose Products > Fabric Displays. In the scrolling area to the right, choose any product and click on More Info. That's where the bad code is.
