Client Feedback Apps Mar 1, 12, 6:42 a.m.
I know there are a few apps out there that have client feedback on them. Two of them being:
http://www.noteboxapp.com/
http://www.notableapp.com/
But I am looking for one that works with design files (PDF, JPG, PSD, etc) and video work? Does anyone know a timecode based platform that will handle design and video stuff? I think I saw it out there at one point.
Best Client Proofing Software Aug 17, 11, 11:24 a.m.
I know some of you guys are photographers, what is the best client proofing system out there you have used? Also, are you using some proofing systems for design, that could work for photo?

Audio Recording on 7D May 25, 11, 12:39 p.m.
I am looking at recording really nice high quality sound on a 7D. I found this option to record straight through an XLR cable to SD cards, but I don't want to use PluralEyes http://www.singularsoftware.com/… to mix the sound later.

What is a good product that will sync my audio immediately in the cam, but still get the XLR quality sound into the cam?
Would any of these work?

Share HD on 2 Comps? Mar 11, 11, 9:17 a.m.
Mac & PC sharing HD via USB
I have an interesting harddrive sharing question. Currently I have 3-4 macs all networked together, they all share multiple HD's and connect great to eachother. Now I have one PC connected to this network as well. No problem.
I have a client who has given me VPN access to external networks on a second PC. Now what I am trying to do is connect this "external" computer into the "network". It is virtually impossible for me to connect this machine to the network by using network settings. I don't have the administrator rights.
My workaround idea is to use a USB switch. However I can't stand the thought of having to click a button each time I want to share a file back and forth from machine to machine.
Other things I have tried:
Box.net - the application stopped working on the PC. The firewall stopped this immediatly.
Time capsule - doesn't work. I need admin right to get the network set up right...
So what I am looking for ideally is an USB switch without the switch. It looks like people claim these exist, do any of you have thoughts on any of these, or have recommendations for others?

PHP Image in Email Dec 8, 10, 3:23 p.m.
Anyone know what I am doing wrong in this PHP script. I am basically trying to have a img embedded in an email via post. Any thoughts on my crappy coding?
$Subject2 = "Subject title $toName";
$Message2 = "<img src='http://weburl.com/subdir/assets/imagename.jpg' />\nDear $fromName,\n\nSentence ...\n\nSentence ... \n\Sentence ...link:\nhttp://www.google.com... \nJohn\n";
Stock Video Sites Oct 5, 10, 1:24 p.m.
Tell me your secrets motion graphix people.
Getty Video, Sony Pics, Istockvideo, VideoHive, Revostock, Shutterstock, are just not cutting it anymore.
Most of the stuff on these sites are of really low quality in content. I know there is some higher quality stuff out there... where is it?
Are you bigger agencies just ripping video artists work you like?
Deal with dude who has old number? Sep 13, 10, 12:13 p.m.
I switched phone numbers after many years of being in my current city. Now the guy who has my old number is such a jack-ass. He yells at people and gets super annoyed that he has my old number when people call for me.
Obviously I have emailed everyone in my book about my new number, but some people have just not updated it properly...
What should I do? Should I call this dude and tell him to chill out? Just let time pass? Tell him I will break his legs if he curses another one of my contacts again?
iPhone App Spam Apr 5, 10, 8:18 a.m.
Have any of you had this happen?
Recently one of my iPhone applications spammed my whole gmail account. I wanted to hear a perspective from iPhone users on this new trend and to learn ways to protect myself and others from this happening again.
The only application I can blame at this point in my investigative process is www.fring.com, a free voip and messaging company. This is the only application I shared my gmail contact list with not knowing that it would be spammed. The other applications I downloaded in a 24 hour period were: icall, textPlus, & truphone. However I did not share my gmail contact list with these applications.
The online company Aviary had a problem with an iPhone application spamming his account. However this was another application called iDrive (which I don't own). You can read about his similar trials and tribulations here:
http://aviary.com/bizblog/posts/…
I called Apple to report this spamming activity, and they basically said there is nothing they can do. I sign agreements with the third-party apps and they have no control over those agreements. The thing is that they do have control. If they can take an app off being x-rated, they can take off a spamming application.
Does anyone have a list of applications that are spamming the iPhone community like this? There needs to first be a sham and blame campaign followed by legal action on this illegal practice.
Photography movies Jan 26, 10, 5:02 a.m.
What are your favorite or most loved movies about or depicting photographers?
I am doing some research to find the old styles of shooting, and I want to watch some films about photographers of different ages...
Here are a few that come to mind:
Canon 70-300 or 70-200 L Jan 8, 10, 2:34 p.m.
Which lens would you get? They are almost the same price. One is an coveted "L" lens, and the other has a greater distance...

Lego House Sep 1, 09, 2:46 p.m.
Toy fanatic builds a house from LEGO
"I guess you could build a house with practically any material. But I never thought you could actually build one from LEGO pieces. So James May, a toy fanatic from the UK surprised me, by building a real house from one of my favorite toys as a child.
The two-story Lego palace is located in the middle of a vineyard and has a working bathroom. James used bricks pieced together by 272 Legos. Over three million bricks were used so that’s about 816 million Lego pieces. Quite an amazing job.
Seen at Geeksugar. More images after the break."

Top 10 Blogs/Twitter/Tumblr Etc Aug 3, 09, 2:47 p.m.
I don't know if this has been done before on QBN. But I have been looking for some new rss feeds to put into my google reader account (as I don't have enough stuff to compile through anyway). So I thought, why not ask you guys/girls what blogs/twitter accounts/feeds can you not live without?
I will start with my top 10 list, and mine are not specifically design related.

Burn a Million Quid - K Foundation Jan 28, 09, 6:32 a.m.
Would you burn a Million Quid (Dollars, Pesos, Euros, anything) for arts sake?
From wikipedia:
"K Foundation Burn a Million Quid was an action that took place on 23 August 1994, in which the K Foundation (an art duo consisting of Bill Drummond and Jimmy Cauty) burnt one million pounds sterling in cash on the Scottish island of Jura. This money represented the bulk of the K Foundation's funds, earned by Drummond and Cauty as The KLF, one of the United Kingdom's most successful pop groups of the early 1990s. The duo have never fully explained their motivations for the burning.
The incineration was recorded on a Hi-8 video camera by K Foundation collaborator Gimpo. In August 1995, the film—Watch the K Foundation Burn a Million Quid[1]—was toured around the UK, with Drummond and Cauty engaging each audience in debate about the burning and its meaning. In November 1995, the duo pledged to dissolve the K Foundation and to refrain from public discussion of the burning for a period of 23 years.
A book—K Foundation Burn A Million Quid, edited and compiled by collaborator Chris Brook—was published by ellipsis Books in 1997, compiling stills from the film, accounts of events and viewer reactions. The book also contains an image of a single house brick that was manufactured from the fire's ashes."
