Used Hasselblad 500 y/n?

Ive been thinking recently about getting a used Hasselblad 500. Used kits are on sale for quite a cheap price (under $1000).

Are there any of you out there that use one as a hobby camera? To shoot portraits or street work with? I've also never ventured into medium format yet, and im hoping this isnt something that is too difficult to get into.

Cheers,

Im based in lower Manhattan at the moment and I haven't run into anything yet.

Fav 35mm film to use

I just picked up a Konica Hexar AF and was wondering what some of your favorite rolls of film is to use for your film camera.

Good all around film? Nice color or BW?

So much to choose from!

Film or Digital

For those of you who have both a DSLR and a film camera...

How often do you shoot film vs digital? Do you neglect film more due to extra work of having them processed or scanned? Or price having to buy film? Im thinking about getting a film body (I havent shot film in well over 10 years, getting the itch to do it again). Im asking in terms of personal work rather then for client work.

Thanks for your input!

Photo Rights Question

I have 2 photos that a local city magazine wants to use for their quarterly issue. The mag is fairly new in the market and its free to pick up their mag.

Just curious what I should charge (or should I even charge them? Just ask for ad space). I normally sell prints at about $150-200 a piece, should I just do that and call it a day?

Any help would be great. Cheers!

Large word doc to html

Is there an 'easy' way of converting a large formatted word doc into some sort of html page for viewing online?

Just wondering if there are any automated tools out there for doing this.

MBP Battery replacement

Have any of you guys replaced your 15" MBP battery on your own? Whats the process like?

I just bought a new battery and am a bit hesitant to replace it on my own. Should I bring the battery and computer to a mac genius to do it for me? Just feeling a bit paranoid.

Coney Island, NY

Ive got a free day here in New York today and was wondering if Coney Island is still worth checking out?

Is there anything going on there these days? or is it a dead zone?

If anyone knows, let me know! Cheers!

Respect: Freelance vs Full Time

In your opinion, do you think freelancers get less respect from the general public then from 'normal' full timers?

I find that when I tell people I freelance full time, they think its some sort of easy peasy, after work job where I can do whatever I want and wake up at 2pm for 'work'. Doesn't seem like everyone is aware of how common the freelance lifestyle is nowadays.

Anyway, just wondering what your thoughts are.

Cheers!

50mm 1.8 -> 1.4

Do you think its worth the upgrade from a 1.8 to 1.4? Im aware that allowing more light is always better, but at its sharpest, both lenses can shoot at 2.8 (or around that area).

Is there really that much of a difference between the two to dish out the extra cash? I ask because I love shooting low light. Maybe im missing out on something with 1.4

Cheers!

Ive got the afternoon free to wander around New York and im going to lug around my camera and tripod. Whats the best secret spots to shoot the city? Not interested in Times Square or any other major tourist attraction.
