FLV artifact? Apr 25, 08, 5:47 p.m.

I have an FLV, rendered out of after effects CS3. For some reason, the first frame of the FLV flashes a red artifact, the size of the video, then it disappears and the video plays normally.

What the hell is causing this and how do I fix it? I found this snippet on one of Adobe's page listing known and fixed bugs of the new flash player:

Alpha channel rendering issue when rendering video containing an alpha channel, followed by another asset on the same stream without an alpha channel. (183860)

According to my browswer and Adobe's site, I'm running the most recent flash player. I get the issue across all browsers. I'm on Mac OSX 10.4

Help me or shoot me in the face, please.

I'm going to be building a website for an upcoming film as a freelance job. I am responsible for hunting down hosting for the site that will be valid for the next few years, and that won't be too pricey, as it is a small budget film. Does anyone have any good, reliable recommendations for hosting?

My portfolio is hosted on a friend's server, and its actually pretty slow. The only other hosting experience I have is with dotster, as another client had already purchased webspace with them. Thoughts and input are greatly appreciated.

I've got several rolls of 120 medium format color film that I'd like to get prints for. I'm anticipating this costing me a chunk of money, so I was hoping someone can help me out.

Do any of you know good / cheap photo printers in LA? Or perhaps online printers that I can send high-rez scans to and get some good prints from? Any information is helpful, I'm fairly new to traditional photography.

I'm looking for a flash game that was made a year or so back. It was very simple. A side scrolling view of a guy running. He encountered obstacles, that were walls or blocks of ice, and you had to press a key to time his lunge forward. If you timed it right, he breaks through, and if you miss, he hits the wall. There weren't too many walls, maybe 7 or 8 total.

Can't remember the name or the url, but the site has several little flash 'playgrounds', they are sort of experimental. the one I remember the most was the silhouette of a guy's head, and you could rollover all kinds of hotspots and trigger different animations, and open up other pieces of interactivity. this is the best I can do to describe it, so hopefully it rings a bell with someone.

Large Euro-Style Posters? Nov 9, 06, 6:46 a.m.

Anyone know a place online where I can order those large posters that I guess are everywhere in Europe? I have a design professor who has quite the collection of large, european posters he's gathered over the years...I don't know the size he said they were...i'd want to say A4, but I don't know if that is large or small or what? I'm kinda clueless, so hopefully this makes sense.

Most of his posters were european, promoting museums or art expos or whatever, and he told us that they hang all over the place, so i'm hoping someone knows what i speak of!

So I have a class, and one of the initial properties is

private var myShape:MovieClip;

and later in the constructor

myShape = path.createEmptyMovieClip(...

works splendidly. then later, i have a method applying an action.

...
myShape.onRelease = function() {
trace(myShape);
}
...

and its undefined. if i trace any of the initial properties, they come up undefined. can i not access those from insde a clip whose actions were set in a class method? i hope this makes sense.

i'm new to classes, so my terminology may be off. sorry!

Safari not displaying SWFs!!! Oct 9, 06, 3:02 p.m.

So for some reason my Safari is not displaying any Flash content. No video on youtube, no music on myspace, not even the buttons here on newstoday. but firefox works just fine. Whats the deal! Heres my version number:

Version 2.0.4 (419.3)

And I did reinstall Flash Player 9 for all browsers and still nothing. I'm totally stumped and can't find anything anywhere else. Any idea'rs?

would anyone be able to send me a copy of this script? basically i'm updating flash files a freelancer built, and he used the script. given his track record, i dont think he'll be responding to our requests anytime soon and this is due now. i tried downloading it here:

i'm in the market for an external hard drive. i really need something that has

A) decent space. ideally 150 gigs+
B) something I can hook to my powerbook and capture video to / edit video from.

I currently have a maxtor 200 gig drive, but it is a USB drive, so it doesn't have the speed to keep up with my powerbook for editing and capturing. i was wondering if anyone knew of a drive, possibly firewire, that would get the job done for me.
