Does anyone do this?

Could I setup a paypal account? Or do a credit transfer to one of my personal accounts?
Any help is appreciated!!

Designing for Social Change Mar 28, 12, 7:09 a.m.
Is anyone buying into this industry buzz-phrase?
http://designingforsocialchange.…
Now they have a book about it. A colleague of mine is being recognized in this book for her work in PieLab. Although by all accounts her retelling of what they did at PieLab was far from glamorous or life-changing for the community they were in. The biggest eye-opener to her was how little the community they were trying to help cared about a bunch of designers wanting to impact their community. In her words, "They didn't give a shit about graphic design or making posters or logos or how creative we were or anything I was taught in school. What they cared about was feeding their families, keeping a roof over their head, keeping their cars running, paying their bills... things that mattered."
I'm really torn on this subject. Anyone else have opinions on 'Designing for Social Change'?
Hiring a UI/UX Designer Mar 12, 12, 8:11 a.m.
Hi All,
One of the divisions of the company I work for is trying to fill a UI/UX Designer role to work on one of their pieces of software.
So far HR has vetted a bunch of print designers with very little GUI / UI / UX / Web / App experience. I'm quite certain they're not fielding the right types of individuals.
If someone could help me compile a list of things I could send over to HR to help them to vet the right type of designer I would be very grateful.
So far this is what I have - feel free to add or to correct me.
Core Discipline / Experience:
Interaction, Interactive, GUI, UI, UX Designer
Skills:
-Passion and Understanding of UI/UX Design principles
-Ability to brainstorm and sitemap UX / App / Website workflow
-Ability to draft wireframes based on sitemap docs
-Ability to translate wireframes into useable design skins / artwork
-Understanding of rapid prototyping and usability studies for GUI / Application design
-bonus would be: Understanding and ability to translate design / artwork into functional pieces of code (ie: developer capabilities)
-ability to motion prototype design solutions
... and that's all I have for now. Thanks!!

Logo Shaved in Someones Head Jan 31, 12, 8:22 p.m.
Hi Everyone,
For better or worse, I just had to share this.
I kept in touch with a client from the agency I previously worked it. We had a real good relationship and he sent me this gem, which I found somewhat flattering.
I mean, you know you made it big when someone shave's your logo into their head. Right?
Here's a link to the identity if anyone is interested: http://derekapa.com/#22

iPad alternatives Oct 14, 11, 2:47 p.m.
Serious responses only please.
Looking for opinions on tablet alternatives to an iPad as a gift for my Fiance. The iPad has appeal for the perceived quality of an apple product (i'm a mac user and have always been impressed by the quality of the hardware) although the price point is what throws me for a loop. $500 for entry into the product line? Ouch.
As far as an investment goes i'm looking for a tablet device which is pretty durable and would stay current for 2-3 years. I feel the current state of android phones/hardware is disposable at best (I feel like i'm going to need to replace my HTC EVO relatively soon even though it's not even a year old) although again it could just be my perception.
I'm not completely opposed to an iPad but if there is a serious contender out there with a more attractive price point (ie: $300-400 usd) then i'm open to that option.
Thoughts?

Client Ditched My Work Jul 27, 11, 7:59 p.m.
So I did some freelance for a start-up a couple months back. A quick Identity that I thought out turned out pretty good given the small budget and poorly defined direction the start-up was taking.
Fast forward a couple of months and the start-up is now rolling out their product with new 'branding'.
Now, I actually spoke with this client before and they mentioned they might be changing direction. Which I was fine with because well, I had already been paid for the work.
But I can't help but feel really underwhelmed and disappointed in their new direction. Even if what I had come up with didn't communicate their intent I believe my solution was much better than their current choice.
Has anyone dealt with this before?
Also, i'm not going to name names. If you want to see the work you can email me.
Netflix Site Redesign Jun 9, 11, 6:37 p.m.
For those of you who are members, the once familiar interface has been decimated and reduced to such horrendous useabilty conventions as hovering to scroll through movies. You can't even view a sortable list anymore! Oh Netflix! What have thou done!??

Hey all,
I'm looking for some nice project management software that has an easy to use, intuitive timeline for PC & Mac. Something that is as usable as Omniplan would be excellent.
Thanks!

mobile web help - image zoom Feb 28, 11, 12:02 p.m.
Good monday to everyone!
I'm looking for some specific direction/pointers in regards to a mobile website i'm developing.
I've got the basics of the mobile site underfoot but what I'd like to do is add some basic interactivity to what is essentially a very basic website styled with css.
What I would like to do:
-use server side script to generate thumbnails proportional to viewport
-Add a basic zoom function to images on site so that when you select/click the image it allows the user to pan/zoom the image. A second click would close the image.
-I would like the function to be cross-compatible on iOS/Android.
-Can be native functionality for device or using 3rd party, such as jQuery mobile
I've been scouring the internet for an appropriate template/demo/etc and have found a few things of note. However, I thought i'd ask here to see if the Q-mmunity didn't know of something which isn't readily-available through google.
Thanks in advance!
