Im working on an illustration (for a powerpoint slide, yes a fuckin' powerpoint)

Anyways - Im struggling with how to represent a "database" or something that represents a database/filter of "intelligence & insights" other than using the standard

^ Clients words.

Any ideas? :/

Anyone know of any tricks/ways around having a solid background colour around text in CSS, without having it hug tight to the edge of each word (in other words increase the overall padding around HTML text)

What would you do in this situation? apparantly Ode magazine published an illustration of mine (I had no idea) in feb 2008 in an article by Paulo Coelho

now another (I think much smaller) magazine has contacted me today, wanting to re:print it and asking for the file and a price.. not sure what to quote, have no idea which illustration it was!

should I contact Ode and ask to be embursed for its use even though it was back in feb 08 ?

CS3 opens a 90mb PSD in about 5 seconds..

CS4 opens the same file in about 2 minutes...!?

Since I've upgraded to Fireworks CS4 only to realize that its a bug-ridden-crashing-pile-of-poo, and Adobe admits it! (& now cant revert to FW CS3 due to licensing issues at this contract arghhg)

Im forced back to using Photoshop CS4 for a web design contract that I'm working on...

I was looking forward to using Master Pages in Fireworks for shared elements like page nav etc, so I didnt have to update each files navigation each time the client makes a change.

Question: Does PS CS4 have ANYTHING like this, Im searching but seems like its a no?

Can I have a navigation .PSD, thats shared accross multiple PSD's that I only need update once to update all pages?

If you'd just hired a young designer with no client facing experience in presenting design concepts (website design or print design for example) what advice or little nuggets of wisdom from your experience would you offer to them?

What tips or advice would you offer them to increase the chances of desired response from a client (ie 10% is the actual design and 90% is how its presented/sold to the client) ????

maybe this is a stupid question, any idea if there is anyway to hack, or add on an external Firewire 800 port to a mac mini?

I need to install Logic 8, but not enough room on the mini's HD, have an external 1TB HD with FW800, but since the mini doesnt support it, im worried running the jam packs via FW400 will be too slow ?

Question.... is there a Mass HTML email app or service that makes managing future HTML emails to mailing lists to customers easy?

I have feedburner but dont think this will help as I dont want my posts sent, just a specific promotion and specific times.
