Large type motion tracking Feb 6, 13, 5:16 a.m.
Can anybody recommend any examples of large 3D type being superimposed into a city or landscape so that it still looks massive?
Need something big and solid feeling, like it is sitting on the ground. All the examples I'm finding are showing quite small text.
Something like this but bigger. (2:48)
Remember a 3 piece mailer? Nov 6, 12, 4:02 a.m.
Can anyone remember any details about a 3 piece letter mailer that was all over design sites a couple of years back?
I have a feeling it was for IBM but I might be way off. It was 3 different size normal looking letters which each made sense on their own but when the smaller one was placed on top of the larger ones the line of text continued on to the larger one changing the sentiment of the message.
Or something like that. Has anyone got a link to it as I can't find it anywhere.
Thermal Binding - London Jul 2, 12, 5:46 a.m.
On the off chance, can anyone recommend a place in London that can do thermal binding for presentations - google is not coming up with the goods. Around E1 would be tops.
CSS training suggestions? Jun 20, 12, 6:21 a.m.
Can anybody recommend a decent short course in London for advanced CSS or CSS3? It's for a web developer friend, I don't know of anywhere to suggest.
Grey Canon 7D May 28, 12, 8:39 a.m.
Has anyone here bought a grey import Canon camera? Any issues with them or would you suggest staying well away?
I'm wanting a camera fairly quickly and I know there is going to be some form of update to the 7D area so I don't want to go and spend 1300+ and lose so much value if I sell it in a few months.
The imports look about the same price as 2nd hand ones on ebay yet some import companies are offering 3 year warranties, which I know are not great but hopefully better than nothing.
Any advice would be great - cheers.
Displaying a Twitter feed Mar 20, 12, 8:26 a.m.
Hi, does anybody know of any services/products that allow you to take a clients twitter feed or # and run it through a display as a simple updating presentation? Probably one tweet at a time, rolling through the last 5 or 10. It's for an exhibition stand.
Something like this but preferably more customisable, colours and fonts would be good.
Calling all old timers Jan 26, 12, 7:25 a.m.
Does anyone know what those old personal foiling machines were called? We had one at uni but I know it was pretty ancient then. You feed in a photocopy plus a sheet of foil and the heat rollers fuse the foil onto the photocopier toner somehow.
Great for mockups. Does anyone know what I am talking about?
Identifying a Pantone Sep 27, 11, 9:27 a.m.
Does anybody know if there's a way to identify a pantone colour after the swatch has been renamed in a file?
It's an EPS logo file, all set up nicely for once, but they've renamed the PMS number as 'corporate blue'.
File format download icons Aug 15, 11, 9:11 a.m.
Does anybody know of a usable set of file format icons somewhere that I can use for a download page.
Just had a client ask for a list of file formats as long as your leg which is going to take me forever to try to collect all the logos for and reformat to the same size.
edgeless magnetic whiteboard Jun 2, 11, 4:37 a.m.
Sorry for the rather dull request but I'm having a nightmare here. Does anybody have any idea where I could source some whiteboards that don't have an ugly metal edge around them. We want to clad out one of the walls in a meeting room with them so there would be a few butting up together.
Looking for magnetic whiteboards, available in the UK.
Thanks for any help.
Is student debt tax deductible? Dec 15, 10, 1:44 a.m.
Not sure why but since graduating in 2003 the student loans company has hardly contacted me about repaying anything. Feel like maybe I should start chipping away at it though.
Does anyone know if you can put it down as a professional expense on your tax return?
Conference Stands Dec 8, 10, 6:40 a.m.
Does anybody have any good resources/sites they can recommend for some conference stand research? Looking for some examples of what can be done with 4x4 metre and below spaces, struggling to find anyone who showcases custom built stands at that size.
InDesign Cache? Aug 26, 10, 8:26 a.m.
Been working on a crazy file with about 100 images placed together, it slowed ID down to a halt. I've shut the file now but other files are still suffering. Does InDesign have a cache or equivalent like photoshop that you can empty?
Free 3D models Jul 23, 10, 4:51 a.m.
Can anyone recommend good sources of free 3D models, other than turbosquid?
iphone 4 - data limit Jun 23, 10, 4:17 a.m.
Just upgrading and all the O2 tariffs have ditched the unlimited data. Does anybody have any ideas whether 500 MB of data allowance a month going to be enough for regular emails, maps and average use out and about?
If not I might have to swap to Orange - unless anyone has any horror stories of Orange service in London.
The Budget Jun 22, 10, 5:22 a.m.
Is anybody watching this?
VAT is going up to 20% as of January.
What was that site... Jun 14, 10, 9:23 a.m.
Probably getting on for 10 years ago - was like a dutch design, coding, art collaboration project. Had a chat area where everyone in it was a fly in a sink. You could move around and talk to other bugs stuck in the sink. Any ideas?
linking macs to render Feb 17, 10, 10:41 a.m.
Does anyone know how to link/network/cluster various macs together to use their shared processing power to render stuff quicker? Rendering from cinema 4d. I've had a look about online but coming up dry.
The iPhone is the new Internet Explorer 6 Feb 15, 10, 3:49 a.m.
...says mobile developer. The long, detailed and faintly angry blogpost doesn't pull any punches:
"The iPhone has become an obsession. If we don't pay attention, we'll have a mobile web that only works on the iPhone. And then we'll have the real mobile web that wasn't made by us and doesn't give a shit about web standards and best practices."
C4D wood floor effect Feb 11, 10, 5:22 a.m.
Can any advise or point me in the right direction for achieving a decent wooden floor effect in Cinema 4D. Something similar to the floor in the image, with a bit of texture rather than completely flat.
I'm just starting to get my head around the basics so if anyone knows of any tutorials they would be a big help thanks.
