Job Candidate Jul 11, 08, 12:24 p.m.
Received this email from someone who responded to one of our job postings for a mid-level interactive designer (too good, had to share...and, yes, this is 100% legit and posted here exactly how we received it in the email...no edits...seriously) enjoy and you're welcome...
this job has my name all over it.since birth i have been enamoured with the internet. Self taught of 15 years i am an expert in html, php, database, ajax, streaming audio, streaming video, flash expert, and more importantly digital marketing strategist. after building sites for corporations and mom and pops i would love to focus on one serious project.
most of my clients are happy with the site i give them and do not take it to the next level. i just design them, but no one has retained me to run their site indefinately.
The sites i specialize in is content management systems that allow the client to take their platform into an enterprise level but they lack the same excitement i share for growing a platform.
with the exception of http://www.ballrooming.com which we and the owner update at least twice a week.
it is the number 1 website on the planet for ballrooming and unfortuantely my only serious, vision bounded client, all others are just interested in having a great storefront website and tend to rest on the laurels for the duration.
I currently have over 300 websites online, all have ecommerce solutions so as to impact their bottom line.
I work 18 hours a day researching and furthering my skills and long to partner/work with a company that shares the same level of enthusiam for a technology that will change the world.
Currently working on Thelma's of Good Times website along with a bevy of smaller clients.
To recap I am an internet genius that looks forward to furthering my profession of internet technolgy with a firm that will add value to what i do, but most importantly I bring a lifetime of scripts, ideas, and professionalism to all that I do.
i dont have a super duper site to show cuz clients have not had the finance to fund my greatest capabilities but all my sites are search engine optimized and if you google mrwells i should be #1

Late Fees Jul 9, 08, 9:32 a.m.
How do you get a client to pay you late fees?
I have a client that's 23 days past due on one invoice and 18 days past due on another. I specifically put into my contract that there is a late fee assessed (and how much) if they pay past 30 days from the date the invoice is submitted.
I've actually never collected on this with any client that's paid late...and I've been doing this freelance thing for a while now...I think I'm just scared that they'll think it's a dick move on my part and not want to work with me ever again...and, for me, the long-term relationship is always better than getting paid late fees. Any thoughts and/or suggestions?
