Question for DJ's / Club Promoters Jun 6, 11, 8:45 p.m.

So I might get to DJ at my first club in Atlanta. But they just want to know how many people I'm going to bring out. The main promoter guy said that Friday nights will be mine if I can get people in the door. He wants me to write up a business plan kinda thing to give to the owners, with my ideas on how I can get people to come out. It's like I'm going to be a promoter for my own party. Is this a normal thing?

Any ideas on how to make people want to come, besides the generic posh look and feel? I was thinking about coming up with a catchy name and spreading flyers around with no info. Then a month later, dropping flyers everywhere with all the info. I like the whole zombie theme.

I suggested partnering with a liquor company and giving out free drinks before 11, but the promoter said that only works for one night.

I have been spinning for about 15 years for fun, on and off. I'm trying to get serious now and have been recording alot, but I keep having a few mistakes on my mixes.

I spoke with a local DJ that plays a lot of clubs. He suggested just doing a mixtape in Abelton, rather than the old fashioned way. That way it will be perfect.

What say you?

Facebook business page Aug 4, 10, 2:11 p.m.

My one freelance client owns a hair salon. She had one of her employees set up a facebook page for their salon a while back. Recently she wanted me to add things to it. I noticed the page was a personal page, and not a proper business page. There was a business page setup with that same account, so I blew it out with everything my client wanted and more.

She came back to me and wondered why she has two facebook pages, and I explained about why a business page is what she should have. She seemed ok with it.

A few weeks went by, and I never got my check. I asked her if everything is ok, she said people are confused because there are 2 facebook pages for her business. (She would mostly update the old personal site and not the new business page).

Is there anyway to delete the personal site, and keep the business page intact? If this isn't possible, what could be some other solutions? I told her to delete everything off the old personal site, and have one status update that tells people to go to the correct site.

Did an OS update the other day. Now my adobe and microsoft stuff doesn't open.

I uninstalled flash and downloaded a trial version, and it wouldn't work either.

Is there a way to fix it without reinstalling anything? Some library files to move, perhaps?

I took japanese in college but forgot it all, but my friend is fluent now, so he will translate my pickup lines for me. haha. Ive been reading tokyo travel books and looking at tokyo youtube vids for the past few months. So im somewhat familiar with it.

Any tips? I think i'm going to stay away from Akihabra.

So my old boss was a total asshole.

It was my first job out of college. He paid me like a full time contractor, 27k USD per year, 40 hours a week, but I was a contractor so I had no insurance or benefits. I didn't know any better. I think I can still sue him if I wanted.

He made me work my ass off for peanuts. I even had to help paint a new office we moved into, and only bought me lunch ONCE. That was a month of weekends for only 8 dollars.

I was always stressed out about the designs I did, that he would yell at me and not like them or whatever. He even made me tear up a few times since he was such a dick. I never cry dammit, Im a guy! But I care about my work and my job. He would put the weight of the company on my back, since it was just us two.

The last few months I was there, he hired a kid straight out of school. He was a great designer. They ended up ganging up on my about some of my stuff, and the boss played favorites with this kid. They would go out to lunch and not invite me. And planned a trip to the Detroit auto show and said I needed to stay in the office and answer phones. WTF?!?!

So anyway, I just checked the website I designed for the company and noticed it changed. Then I saw the address, which is at his sisters house. Instead of the old office park we use to be in.

HAHAHAHHAHAHA STUPID FUCK. Thats what you get for being a dick to everyone.
