Lightroom vs. Aperture May 18, 12, 11:33 a.m.

...or just Photoshop? Already have Photoshop, but I'm thinking about purchasing one of the other two for quick photo editing and cataloging. I'm currently demoing Lightroom and I really like it. Aperture is a lot cheaper though, but they don't offer a demo. Is one better than the other? Are presets available for both and easy to make? Pepsi or Coke?

Nook or Kindle? Which is easier to use? They both seem pretty similar spec-wise, and I'm not really attached to Amazon or B&N. Any reason to get one over the other?

What do you kids use these days to keep your photos on the web? Is Flickr still any good? I let my pro account expire about a year ago and it bugs me that I can't view any of my old shots without a pro account, but I just got a DSLR and I'll probably be uploading a lot of shots in the near future. Right now I keep them on my HD and a backup, but I'd love to be able to access them anywhere in their full size glory.

Where's the best place to keep them on the web? Google+? Snapjoy? Any other options?

Anyone have experience with this? About to start designing a book for a family member. Neither of us have really worked in this realm before. Should I just do the layout in InDesign? Ideally this will be printed and sold, but we'll also probably want it available on Kindle/iPad. We're probably going to do this sans publisher...are Blurb or Lala or any of those sites any good?

Any thoughts are much appreciated.

I don't shoot photos as much as I'd like to (I mostly take pics with my iPhone at the moment) but I want to start taking more.

Is there any place that sells used ones? I want to make sure I'm in it for the long run before really investing in something substantial. Or is there an entry model that does enough at a decent price?

Trying to display some images created in Illustrator via an iPad to be shown on a TV. The image itself looks ok, but the text is a bit pixelated. Saving at a higher resolution doesn't seem to solve anything. Has anyone tried this before? Any tips on how to get it to display better?

I have a crappy little Canon scanner at my desk that I use every now and then. It does the job, but I'm always having to dig through my apps to load Photoshop CS2 if I want to scan anything. Is there some genius Mac software that does the job? CS5 won't load the scanner due to some Rosetta something or other...

Any ideas?

I'm sure Facebook enabled this because it makes people more "social" and "connected" or whatever, but does every website (except QBN) now require you to log into Facebook to comment? I don't comment enough to know, but I wanted to post something and would rather not have my name, location and job title displayed. Anyone know if there's a way to disable or edit this info so I can post without total strangers knowing who I am?

Need to create and resize some images so they'll display on a horizontal TV or LCD type monitor. Planning to toss some JPEGs on the iPad so they can be put on display at an event. Anyone know what size these images need to be created at to display properly? Does it depend on the aspect ratio of the TV or monitor?
