I will be in Athens for a few days in April.
Has anyone a clue what area to stay? Internet says Koukai would be good if you like the local experience. What I would prefer.
Any early adopters here who know the so called next Berlin?

'the so called next Berlin' hahaha, who on Earth's saying that?

People in Berlin. :) They are moving there, because Berlin is too expensive and mainstream now.
- Ah, you mean from a lifestyle and cheap rent perspective? I thought you meant as a tech hub or somesuch.Nairn
- I think one follows the other. Artists move there because it's cheap and unregulated and create new hubs of whatever.Longcopylover
- Oh, so it’s like Florida. Great. Greece is becoming the Florida of Europe ;)monospaced
- Berlin is really, really overrated. Ugh.Continuity

I was there last early September for a couple of days before heading off to the islands, and I stayed here:

Very, very comfortable, nice modern room (I was in the penthouse room). Lovely owner. It was at the entrance of a warren of streets, all weirdly decorated in an Alice in Wonderland theme, including the bars and restaurants. Bizarre, yet really cool.
It's also maybe a ten-minute walk from a really lovely rooftop bar, Couleur Locale:

Excellent cocktails, pretty decent food, and a great view on the Acropolis.
Neither are in Koukaki, though. They're in Monastiraki.
- Ah, it seems to me Simon was also in Athens relatively recently. Maybe he's got some tips for you.Continuity
- Thanks, will check it out. And I just found out a former colleague lives there now, she will tell me more.Longcopylover
