Illustrator keeps crashing when I try to open it?

  One of my tools windows refused to open so I decided to hold Option+Command+Shift and reset the Illustrator preferences.

  Now everytime I try to open AI, it crashes.

  I reset my computer and even copied a version from Time Machine and it still crashes.

  What am I doing wrong???

  I was going to suggest trashing prefs but you already did that...

  I know it sucks but try un installing again.

  If that doesn't work (on mac) you can create a new user profile and open illustrator from there, this is the last resort for anything before formatting your computer.

  deinstall ai from the cc app (gear icon - deinstall) and install again.

  definitely, reinstall ai as uan suggested...

  but first, try a safe reboot of the computer. this trashes all font caches/prefs as well as some other helpful file shuffles.
