garbled html? help.

only recently have I been actively testing my sites on macs, especially those with NS 4 & IE 5.

a problem I have encountered is garbled html, i simply don't even know where to begin. this problem only occurs under macintosh afaik.

For example, I have a frameset which draws upon a number of html files. Now, under IE 5 for mac, all i get is a bunch of garbled text (the source is all screwed up too)

Now, when i view the frames individually, and then add a blank query string to hard refresh (ie. content.html?) it refreshes with the proper content.

But when i refresh the frameset with a blank query, nothing changes. I've tried shift-refreshing, flushing cache, you name it.

Is it a server or client-side error?

    wtf :(

sounds like a browser problem. tried mozilla?

    haven't tried mozilla yet.

unfortunately it is crucial that the site works on IE 5.0 for macintosh (the browser which the client (a uni organisation) uses)
