Often the scanner software would have a de-screener, but failing that, that method I posted seems to work ok.

Man, this brings back memories.
I watched a bit of the previous video - using median was a last resort for me, it killed too much detail but was needed sometimes.
Steps I took were similar. I doubled the size but did it in 10% increments (the reduced the damage done by interpolation)
Then I used a combo of Noise: despeckle / dust and scratches, follow up with judicious use Gaussian blur
Then reduced image back to normal size before using unsharpmask to get some of the edges back
- Sometimes I’d also rotate a bit the image before starting the process
- sometimes I’d do the despeckle / dust scratches to each channelEach image was different

repeating noise can be eliminated entirely with fourier transforms
http://www.fmwconcepts.com/image…here's a video showing how it works, somewhat. Note sure if this plugin is still available for photoshop, but image magick works for this via command-line
basically, you convert your image to a frequency plot. The repeating frequencies show as hotspots on that plot. You paint out the hotspot and invert the frequency plot and then presto. no more moire!
