They've fleshed out the chronological image library on Google Earth and put a swish timeline at the bottom to easily navigate through the years and.. the results are often as horrifying as they are fascinating.

I haven't even gotten as far as China yet, just the places I've lived, and seeing the impact we've had on such places breaks my heart.
There was a forest I used to play in - last time I went home it was gone. Now I can chart and see that I would've been one of the last very children to play there before it was cut down for, as far as I can tell, no good reason at all.

Time to spend a while growing the huge knot in my stomach that comes with realising just how much humans have meddled with our planet in the short space of my own lifetime... . Again.
