I just bought one of these a week ago after a bit of research and some recommendations from colleagues.

Really like it so far. Still need to calibrate it properly though.
It's paired with a 27-inch iMac and it makes that feel clunky.
I used to only go for Eizo's but I'm not doing as much colour critical stuff anymore, couldn't justify the price on an Eizo.- got the same one and agree, it shits on the iMac displaysausages
- I must also agree.MrT
- Even with lower resolution?monospaced

Don't you lose pixel resolution coming down from a 2560px 27" or 30" wide screen to a 4K 27" wide screen?
Isn't 5K better suited for Mac in that regard?
- Yes the iMac 5k screen is superior in resolution and color than the Dell. But the Dell is hard to beat in price and good luck finding a 5k monitormonospaced
- Weighed up getting a 5k but not worth it for the work I’m doing.thumb_screws

This is what they gave us at work hooked up to a macbook Pro. Decent resolution and gets the job done.

So just to be sure, what is the highest resolution that 27" 4K display can be used comfortably at?
Non-retina 27" displays are 2560x1440 — can you use those 4K ones at this resolution?
Going 1920x1080 kind of defeats the purpose of having a 27"screen, doesn't it?
It kind of looks like iMac is still the most cost-effective 5K display available, right? You get a great 5K display and a very cheap computer bundled with it.

This review nails it down, weird the situation hasn't changed much in 4 years. We thought we'd have plenty of reasonably priced 5K displays available by now, but that just isn't happening.

"Most users will instead choose an in-between resolution: 2560x1440, or 1440p, because at that resolution, with the Mac OS interface, a 27" canvas looks just right. The problem is, if you set your resolution to "looks like 2560x1440" you lose all the advantage of having purchased a 4k monitor, force your graphics card to do nasty scaling, and may see some artifacts or blurry fonts. I cannot stress this enough: if you are running a 4k monitor as a 2560x1440, you are wasting your money. You should have bought a (good quality) 2560x1440 monitor instead.
Let's say it plainly: for a Mac, the "correct" resolution for a 27"-32" monitor is 2560x1440, or 4x that for 'retina', which is a 5K display: 5120x2880.
The correct resolution for a 20-24" monitor is 1980x1080, or 4x that for 'retina'. That is a 4K display."- So the 5k is worth it then?robotron3k
- I'm staying on my old 30" Cinema Display having read that and some articles. Will likely get a 21-24" display when going 4K.raf

Highly recommend the Dell UltraSharp line.
Anything from there should be good, at least by my standards.
I've had such good luck with UltraSharps over the past 15 years, I really wouldn't buy anything else.
