A lot has changed in SEO this year. If you have any questions about google medic/Bert etc, site speed, the demise of h1s, 301 redirects or schema etc then let me know.

Google again has moved the goal posts in regards to getting "good search ranking".
What are the three best ways to improve your website search rankings in 2020?
To be specific, getting displayed in the "Google 3-Pack" on the local results pages as well a landing your companies website on the first page of specific organic search query?
- links, meta and content are still the cornerstones... more belowtrooperbill

Going to be working on a "brochure" website for beauty salon. It is comprised of 3 areas,
- about-us+contact,
- services+prices,
- gallery+media.
Is there any SEO benefit if it is a one-page site or split into 3 pages?- Yes, you will benefit with the 3 pages, as you will rank more pages, you will also get the Google "Snippets" In search results feature all 3 pages togetherKhurram

I wonder what would happen if I dropped a link to my company here: https://expresslinks.io/
I sell links using blog out reach services.
What say you trooperbill? Any value in doing that? How about a link to my blog?
Will this help me in the SERPs? Or are forum links basically dead.
- how does this service work?utopian

- if the page is on topic, the domain has a high DA and the page has a good PA with dofollow links then yes it would work ... but not in this case loltrooperbill
- But this is a thread about SEO on a forum that talks a lot about web design and internet things - so why not, eh???!?!?Khurram

@utopian to answer your question about mobile rankings specifically the first thing to do is figure out what triggers personalised search results on mobile devices.
Look at google search console and apply filters to find impressions and clicks for queries based on location etc data. then you can work towards optimising these pages for the queries triggering clicks. Don't forget to link to these pages from local sources.
Using the same data you can optimise your local listings. again don't forget citations.
too broad brush? let me know

I've never really gotten answers from these threads. I'll post an easier question.
Trooperbill, do you think SEO overall is cheapening or diluting the search engine experience?
- no. googles focus on content quality has changed the game especially in high value items and experiences like pharma, cars, property, etctrooperbill

A quick question to the SEO gurus...my brother is setting up a new venture. Their preferred domain name has been taken...but is available with one of the more exotic domain extensions.
So instead of having whatever.com.au he's thinking of registering whatever.life or something along those lines.
It's an Australan business...with only operations here. Will the domain extension negatively affect their search engine optimisation?
- Tks...slightly confusing though. On the one hand they say they don't treat them any differently. Then they go on to say...BusterBoy
- By default, most ccTLDs (with exceptions) result in Google using these to geotarget the website; it tells us that the website is probably more relevant...BusterBoy
- ...in the appropriate country.BusterBoy
- i only shared what I had found. I read those docs alot. I believe it means they tend to favor country specific, but will not penalize non-country specific tldsimbecile
- if it were me, i would buy whatever[buzzword].c... to make it more country specific moving forward while simultaneously finding SM accounts to matchimbecile
- No probs..thanks.
I found it strange they said they don't penalise other gltds but favour country specific ones...BusterBoy - i found this on SEMRush https://www.semrush.…imbecile

good question.
whatever he buys it must be a gtld (global) not cctld (local) the former will allow him to rank anywhere tho you'll probably want to use google search console to specify australia and/or use hreflang tags to reaffirm the target country.
