I need to create a thick white outline around the twitter bird logo, and have only the insides of that stroke be feathered out into the twitter blue.
I tried just creating a white stroke and blurring it but of course this blurs the inside and outside. Any ideas how to do this?

White stroke plus inner glow.

monospaced quickly copy and pasted that from the twitter bird logo brand guidelines. Does not count.

One-upping Mono's since the inner glow isn't going to be a smooth transition from the stroke fill unless you bump it all the way up >
1) Duplicate Layer. This will sit on top of logo.
2) Set "fill" opacity to 0 (Not "layer" opacity)
3) Layer Style > Stroke.
4) Fill Type > Gradient
5) Adjust gradient ramp colors (White > White) and opacity levels (100 > 0). The right side should be white with the opacity set to 0.
6) Set gradient style to "Shape Burst"
7) Adjust scale.
8) Adjust stroke Size.Bam, you done.
- my method certainly does result in a perfectly smooth transition from stroke to fill thoughmonospaced
- and you also had to "bump it all the way up" with your 100 > 0 rampmonospaced
- Nah, not without making the glow really large, try it out. Otherwise you see the stroke edge.fyoucher1
- Your method requires there to be a thick stroked outline at all times. Whereas a gradient fill is adjustable by moving the ramp markers.fyoucher1
- I tested it. It works great :)monospaced

- Yeah by adding Choke, but notice how the inner shape has changed.fyoucher1
- There are a myriad of ways to do this, but give cygnus never thanks anyone for their effort, what's the point in bothering?Nairn
- If I received these two solutions, I would thank both people. Thank you fyoucher for finding a more refined solution :)monospaced
