Whats the real issue here. Is it your feewings being hurt or are we discussing ways for it not to be a sausage fest in here?
Pics of attractive chicks, or attract more chicks without pics?
Do female designers even really want to join QBN or is this all hypothetical rhetoric? Because my sense is that for most female designers (or design professionals in general) this site doesn’t even show on their radar.
- Isn't it obvious enough? it's adolescent, pathetic and off-putting having 'chicks otd' 'boobs' otd' & 'butt otd' so prominent on a site ostensibly about designdetritus
- no one's 'feewings' are being hurt as you so continually and breathlessly want to imagine, it's just crap for anyone who's not a wanker.detritus
- i don't think there'a any or at least many who are actually offended, but there are some here who recognise how it projects things.detritus
- ...ESPECIALLY when it's usually the same few tired-wristed wankers it always i
s - it doesn't even 'represent the community'. it's literally wank.detritus - I say this as someone who has the 'NSFW thread' amongst his favourites and enjoys derailing things with the occasional life-like dildo pic.detritus
- It is really off putting to see the words “chick otd”, “butt otd” or “boobs otd” in the list on the left?cannonball1978
- To people who happen to be a bit grown up or, *aghast*, women? Yeah, certainly not inconceivable.detritus

Why not change the CSS of QBN so that all the thread titles are in a white font colour.

I read recently that before the invention of Time-Zones in the mid to late 1800s, each city or location would set its time individually based only on the position of the sun in the sky. So moving from one place to another would require you to reset your watch slightly.

I think it's much less an issue than it was a few years back, when there seemed to be a genuinely unpleasant air of misogyny and every other thread was a soft-wank variation of another.
Maybe some of the finger-sniffers have moved on?
Still a shame that there are so few women around. I'd guess the content has something to with that. Or did.
- I mean there's even been knitting and cookery threads recently. If only the chicks knew that we'd changed.Fax_Benson
- what, you mean we've got old?hans_glib

How about we don't pander to sensitive little easily offended pricks? Don't like the thread, don't click it. It doesn't show up on the front page, so get on with your life.

- For me it's more about first or second impressions from newbies than what I or any other cunt on here thinks. Blokes are insufferable wankers.detritus
- Yea, I get that. Thing is, I wonder, if we do change things like that, whether we'd all really like the new direction this place would take anyway. I dunno'...set
- The charm of this place has always been, for me, the largely unregulated free for all that it is.set
- In the old days the people in pink were more prone to intervene though. These days there's, what - mg33 alone?detritus
- Succinct. Intelligent. Post of the week. For some of those pricks, it may be the post of their life.BustySaintClaire

- exactly. ffs take some control of your life! just because a thread is there doesn't mean you have to look at it.hans_glib
- the thread list reflects this community, if you don't like the look of it, then eff orf elsewhere, ok?hans_glib
- I don't visit COTD and I don't think I've ever posted in it in all the years I've been here. It's not hard to ignore, and as such, it has no way of offending memonospaced
- When ppl have to pay for something I think you can have a say - when it's free just STFU and decide for yourself what you click on.GM278

- calling people sensitive pricks doesn't give anyone the moral authority, you sensitive pricks.PeterPancake
- lol, you only responded to that because you’re so sensitive.monospaced
- it's a decision for the QBN overlords isn't it. i find this all a bit silly but if the aims of the owners is to grow the site with new users then it may be anfadein11
- issue but just removal of the word 'chick' would suffice? This place only has about 100 regular contributors though nowadays? I know there are way more lurkers.fadein11
- and it is still a massively useful place at times, fonts, code, design feedback etc. and still a lot of talent.fadein11
- Freedom's post in cotd offends me.
It's the worst!pango - interacting with a few users here has also opened my eyes to stuff I took for granted and now question.fadein11

- Posted a couple things in there last week. Thought they were worthy posted. I used to avoid it like the plague and there was a time when I thought it was anotype
- an inappropriate thread for QBN. Last week I saw a couple posts in there that were really good. But understand why it could be a turn off for many to join...notype
- and may even be uncomfy for some folks. I’m rambling - wondering if the qoob can poll.notype
- It says chick of the day. It doesn't have to be nudes. Time to time I post females with amazing achievement.pango
- just allow tits in pic of the day with NSFW flag, sorted. my only problem is the title. No woman is ever going to go in there and discuss wonky nipples...kingsteven
- and we're missing out on the most brutal wonky nipple discussionkingsteven
- haven't seen one person that's offended by tits. mostly bros having a defensive hissy fits because they've thought about something for the very first time.kingsteven

If there has to be some action - and i'm not entirely certain there needs to be - I'd agree with Detritus and Shellie and the idea of having an option to excluded 'adult' content from the thread feed.
Or, possibly even having the option to excluded any feeds you just don't want to appear, much like a tailored content management facility most news websites provide.
However, who decides which content this includes? I'm not particularly fond of the NSFL thread, does that get excluded? I know some people get in a right tizzy with the Religion and Politics threads, what about them?
I suppose this all boils down to the question 'What is QBN for?' I'm fucked if I know, but i like it the way it is.
- Simply add an option for each user to blacklist threads he/she doesn't want to follow.cotton

I've no problem with pervy content, I just ignore it and then have the occasional whoop at the wondrous horrors posted in the NSFW thread.
That said, I've been uncomfortable with the sort of limp titillation that appears front and centre and tends to be the reserve of the same small phawanx of overly-enthusiastic y-front fondlers.
I like shellie's suggestion of it being opt-in for signed-in ..er.. members, like the jingle.
Otherwise it's just soggy biscuit circle jerking of basement dwelling men dwarves, which doesn't do any of us any favours.

I'm going to call Tippa Gore and Mary Whitehouse.
This has gone too far FFS, think of the children.

I think that when we feel the uncontrollable desire to splash our warm, sticky, natural, non-thoughts onto the nervous teen face of QBN we should first show some self restraint and submit those excited emissions to some kind of QBN regulatory council who can then decide when they shall be made public.
Instead of everyone just blowing their load willy-nilly.

Real time communication in the COTD thread? LOL
- since1979
The COTD problem illuminates the Time-Zone inconsistencies in the local user's QBN experience.
I propose a timezone feature where a post made at 7pm in one timezone will then appear at 7pm in all proper time zones, killing all real-time communication in order to solve the COTD dilemma.
No, forget it. This is a terrible idea.
