So l still struggle to 'build' websites.
I have a personal site that I built in Wordpress and Im really proud of it - that said, it took me forever to build and when I want to make changes, it takes me 3 hours to figure out how to do it as I cant remember.
I figured out Muse but I just dont like it and I think it is kind of crappy.
Squarespace I find hard.
Webflow I like but I just find it too hard too...
I stumbled onto Wix and thought it would be work of the devil. I have been pleasantly surprised...
I know the majority of you guys are super coders etc so I expect you will say it is shit but do you think Wix is something pursuing to be able to build simple website for my clients?
Thoughts?
Be nice please...

Didn't you find wordpress sites to be slow?

I'd not touch Wix or Squarespace with a ten foot barge pole, but then I'm chronically not rich and have read over recent months of otherwise capable coders making nice sums of money from Squarespace development (including some here, I think?).
tl;dr - if it works for you and your clients - it works.

if wix works for you then great.
clients are starting to realise that where they need most help is with the content - and that's where you can make some money, regardless of the system used to build the site.
personally i try and keep site builds in plain html (not least because all cms suck) but wtf do i know?
- < Yes. Much prefer smaller sites in plain HTML. Clients never fucking use the CMS we build them anyway!Hayzilla

SquareSpace seemed really easy. I walked through setting up a photography website with my old man. Was pretty good and he could do anything he needed.

wix and squarespace are terrible.
just learn to use wordpress.
plenty of youtube vids and information out there on WP to help you.- Can you elaborate on Wix and SS though please? Would be good to get your thoughts...nylon
- wordpress is hands down more flexible in the long run although it does have a learning curve. wix isnt 100% mobile responsive. Cannot Change Templates with..pockets
- wix without having to rebuild content. wix you also have to use a mobile editor to make your site responsivepockets

- Squarespace > Wixpockets
- only reason people pick anything over wordpress is for simplicity but you lack alot of features that wordpress comes standard withpockets
- plenty of documentation on pros and cons online, google them.pockets
- Thanks mannylon

Are you just building a site for yourself? Use Squarespace and be done with it.
Yes, Wordpress is more customisable, but it comes at 10x the time investment. Unless you're hoping to design for many clients in the future, you don't need it.
Keep it simple.

Grav CMS is a nice alternative, does not need a database, can be self hosted easily and it's fast.

What's so hard about Squarespace? The whole point of it is that it's a piece of piss.
It'll be worth checking Adobe's new Portfolio, too.... it's included in your CC subscription, and looks alreet...

Squarespace is stupid easy. How can you go wrong?
What you DO need though to have a nice looking site on the likes of Squarespace etc is good image/brand assets.
