Was having a discussion with mono on one of the side notes about whether or not this is just a handful of insignificant nut jobs or whether this is something bigger, like the beginning of an actual movement.
I'm of the belief that people have the right to live in a town, city, country and society with like minded people who share similar ethics, beliefs and values.
I don't believe that it's right for one group to impose their way of life on another.
If these right wing fascist racist bigots and so called nazis don't want to live with blacks or Hispanics or gays or Muslims or any other group that they don't share the same values with, shouldn't they have the right to do so no matter how backwards it may be?
Americans encourage this all over the world, if a minority is unhappy and feel oppressed living in a certain country, the US will support their independence and even offer military might to help them achieve this.
Hell, look at Europe, 51 different countries in an area only 3.5 times larger than Texas yet they get along just fine because each group has the right to self rule and self determination.
Maybe the US is just too big, with too many different people wanting too many different things to truly succeed and is in the mess it's in because of it. Maybe a lot of these issues would be solved if each state was more like its own country.
- I'll start the downvotes lol_niko
- give them florida, then bugs bunny .gifGuyFawkes
- so basically the civil war, thats what you propose we do to keep racists happy?
I have a better idea...sofakingback - Why don't they leave? Why don't they go back to the countries they come from? They can be surrounded by all the white people they want.sofakingback
- So...just break up the country? Problem solved!yuekit
- What about people who already live in the areas you're going to hand over to the far right? This isn't a realistic solution.yuekit
- Partition? Never ends well. These people believe the USA belongs to them and them only. Counter to everything the country stands for. They're beyond reason.monoboy
- Unless you give them Texas and turn it into a Pinocchio style Pleasure Land.monoboy
- Didn't they try that already?monNom

So it turns out the_donald subreddit, which is the main gathering place for Trump supporters online, actually promoted this event. Thousands of upvotes and the mods stickied it at the top of the sub.

Now that it ended in violence, their reaction is to lash out against the left, frame a totally innocent person for the killing (they posted his name and personal info online) and when that was debunked, claim it's a "false flag."
It's one thing to be anti-immigrant or far right but the level of denialism and dishonesty among these people is hard to understand.
- that's the narrative omg is outlining in side comments already, it's crazymonospaced
- They apparently can't close that sub because it's part of the investigation into Russian bots and election interference.mg33
- There's a Twitter account set up on or immediately after the day of the incident which claims it's all a commie false flag op.face_melter

@Ramanisky2 gotta be careful with the witch hunts, that photo is from a video from March of this dude going to a Trump rally and pretend to be a nazi to see if the supporters kick him out
- Yep, watch your sources, people!nb
- BUT, this guy starts with this: "The mainstream media and the left are promoting this narrative that all Trump supporters are Nazis."nb
- NO ONE in the mainstream media is promoting a narrative that all Trump supporters are Nazis. That's an insane accusation.nb
- doesn't matter, the photo is being passed around like it was taken in Charlotsville and claiming this guy is something he's not, people need to chillernexbcn
- I agree that people need to chill. But it DOES matter.nb
- It matters because you're condemning people for sharing false information accidentally, while this guy is spreading false information intentionally.nb
- I'm not condemning anybody, I'm just pointing out that witch hunts can lead to grave mistakesernexbcn
- Yes, exactly. Grave mistakes like driving your car through some protestors and killing one of them.nb
- what does that murderer asshole has to do with this discussion?ernexbcn
- if you are trying to spin this into me supporting any of these racist retards you are mistaking me for someone elseernexbcn
- No, I get it. I'm just pointing out that your asking Ram to be mindful of witch hunts, but the witch in this case is, in fact, a witch.nb

White supremacists used to be so ashamed of their views and actions they wore hoods to hide their faces.

Left-wing groups and Berlin residents prevented more than 500 far-right extremists from marching Saturday to the place where high-ranking Nazi official Rudolf Hess died 30 years ago.
Police in riot gear kept the neo-Nazis and an estimated 1,000 counter-protesters apart as the two sides staged competing rallies in the German capital’s western district of Spandau.
Far-right protesters had planned to march to the site of the former Spandau prison, where Hess hanged himself in 1987, but were forced to turn back after about a kilometer (0.6 miles) because of a blockade by counter-protesters.
After changing their route, the neo-Nazis, who had come from all over Germany and neighboring European countries, returned to Spandau’s main station for speeches amid jeers and chants of “Nazis go home!” and “You lost the war!” from counter-protesters.
Authorities had imposed restrictions on the march to ensure that it passed peacefully. Organizers were told they couldn’t glorify Hess or the Nazi regime, carry weapons, drums or torches, and could bring only one flag for every 25 participants.
- This seems far more sane and no one was hurt...why can't America handle things like this?yuekit
- because of a state sponsored public debate on the traumatising history of the nazis in Germany. Didn't bury the crimes, but talk, teach and debate about it.uan
- similar programs were also installed in South America to cure the hate in the population by the dictatorships.uan
- caused by the dictatorships*
...probably the best solution we have as societies.uan

“Literally, I woke up in a bad mood and decided someone shouldn’t be allowed on the Internet. No one should have that power.”
- "We would be making a mistake if we assumed that these sorts of censorship decisions would never turn against causes we love."uan
- They would shut down any opposition without giving it any second thought. That's how dictatorship works.uan
- my point is, he didn't kick them from the internet, just from his servers, and this was a good decision.uan
- Sure, but the article encompaesses much more than the Cloudfront CEO's position - it's aimed at Google et al, which 'ARE' the internet essentially.detritus
- Agreed this is concerning. So is the rush to pass laws labelling white nationalists "terrorists", given the power the U.S. government has acquired since 9/11.yuekit
- relegating these guys to the shadows is a mistake.Gnash
