My town has good pubs with good food. Lots. We have pubs with burger kitchens, mexican kitchens, indian kitchens... rather than the traditional non specialised menu with lots of variety and generally nothing that great...
What would be your ideal thing to be on the menu in a pub? Food for drinking and socialising...

salt and vinegar crisps and pickled eggs. toasted ham and cheese sandwiches.
anything more, you're in an restaurant.
- I've never in my 40 years actually tried a pickled egg. I should rectify this.detritus

If I'm in a pub and slightly hungry I'll drink a pint of Guinness.
If I'm actually hungry I'll go to a restaurant.
- you seriously get your balls in a pinch because there is food served at a pub?canoe
- You live in a small town, right?set
- Or haven't been to many pubs since the ninetiesset
- The last pub I was in was in Ireland, since then I've been to barscanoe

- Pubs sell booze, bars sell snacks / brunch, restaurants sell food. Who wants a meal surrounded by pissheads making loads of noise?Raniator
- In my town most pubs serve decent food and lots of people choose to eat at pubs. No idea where you hang out...set
- Your opinion seems valid pre ten years ago...set

- I loved that you can get a decent curry in pubs in London, when I visited.monospaced

different pubs for different things. The main drawback of restaurants is that you can't sit in a sofa drinking beer and listening to music all afternoon before you have your dinner. Being able to get good food in a pub is a great thing but it doesn't and shouldn't work for all pubs.

I really do draw the line at this, though. A full fucking restaurant menu. In a pub.
Fuck you, Heston. A pub is a fucking boozer.
- Ugh, that reminds me of The Owl and Pussycat in Redchurch St in Shoreditch. Same fucking story.Continuity
- I dunno, I think there's a place for these and boozersset

Good pubs, regardless of food, are rocking horse shit in Sydney. But fish and chips, steaks, a Sunday roast, good pies and a chicken salad for the ladies.
- sab0
Chicken Parma! If it doesn't serve Chicken Parma it ain't a real pub imo!

It really does matter what you eat. There are consequences.
