Is there a filter to make shapes look like they have been cut out? Not shadows etc just flat.
Whilst I could draw with pen, essentially I am looking to give outlined text some sort of random cut out effect. Maybe you can change the cut threshold so that I can actually see which letters work better...
Make sense?

in illustrator simply create the characters and the cutout mask (path down some strokes, a vector shape etc) and use pathfinder to divide, trim or merge - whatever is the best for you
or use effect > distort&transform > roughen
or cut out how?
- i'm sorry so create the shape you want, but still it isn't clear what you mean by cut-outsted

- simplify tends to round everything, not sure if there is a setting to have some harder edges as well._niko
- but it's probably the closest you'll bet to the effect you're looking for_niko
- There is the "Straight Lines" option within the dialog - at least in the latest version of CC.duckseason
