if its an unprofessional person I'll say I'm unemployed. Not sure on the person, I'll say self employed. If i have to get into details I just say advertising design and that sort of shit, and if i see a twinkle in the eye I say, BUT NO WEB DESIGN. And than steer the conversation away because I'm scared I have been marked as a person to reach out to for a favor because they know me.

I generally tell people that I saturate their neighbourhoods with stuff they don't want, introduce promises that can't be held and produce for the pulse not the mind.
To kids I say that I spend all day every day painting pictures for everyone to see.

i generally find the use of titles within agencies to be kinda BS.
but when talking to someone in the general public, ill just say 'graphic designer'. its almost impossible to explain everything we do in one title. its a good blanket statement, it just doesn't sound as glamourous. if someone wants to know more, the conversation can continue.

me: i work in digital marketing (watches their eyes glaze over)... you know google (flash of recognition) them: you work with google? me: sort of.. yes, helping businesses appear when you type in things.
