By strange coincidence the guys at Greyscale Gorilla made a podcast on this topic the day after I almost wrote to them about it. They talked about the merits of working on something everyday but I was hoping for more discussion about the following.
Here are some of the things I was interested in but wasn't covered:
How do you not let it take over your life? These things are very intimidating and some of us have families and relationships. What time of day do you start? When do you call it quits? What is your initial idea? Do you sketch designs or just work on a process you want to learn and hope something well designed emerges from it? How do you pace yourself?
Any Daily workers out there? I bet some of you are the regulars in the Show Some Recent Work thread.

I think there are obvious benefits from a self-promotion stand point. It works well to constantly have something to post and talk about.
I don't want to sound like a hater, and I know this is a popular trend..
But I don't buy into create-something-everyday. I think it gives you that dopamine hit of accomplishment. You work on little projects and push out quantity, taking your time away from bigger projects, or exploring novel new ideas in favor of repetition.
- Agree. Depends on what you value, but personally I'll take quality over quantity for my own development/projects...formed

- I try to spend an hour on a personal project everyday after the wife goes to bed, I like the feeling of taking my time to do something bit by bit.zarkonite

Regarding renders, the most popular artist that comes to mind is beeple.
But after a while, beeple's stuff all just meshes together and you wonder if the dude would be better served working on a truly big crazy creative project instead of a bunch of Trapper Keeper covers.

Yea, those are valid points. But if you look at it from the perspective of exercise, it's important to flex those muscles daily.

dopepope probably my favorite thing I've seen you do is the Cammy White sculpt - something that you said was outside your comfort zone.
You absolutely killed that.
