Got a massive folder of fonts from over the last 10 years, got Spotlight on the mac which finds the font I'm looking for but...
are there any programs out there that can filter out the duplicates, delete true type & postscript fonts if there is an opentype version found. then categories them alphabetically or even better, by font foundry?

There are font management apps, like Linotype FontExplorer and similar, that do most of what you're asking. But, there's a fair amount of manual work that has to be done in order to organize at that level of meta data no matter what.

i use fontexplorer. organized by folders: designer, foundry, style (fonts can be in multiple folders). works best for me.

Like monospaces said, you're in for some manual effort(s)...

Did you experience duplicate fonts issues with any of this software?
I remember using both and they actually copied all existing fonts and created a massive bloated folder of fonts that crashed everytime when I opened.- Yeah; their used to be "move fonts" / "copy fonts" issue(s) that you had to keep an eye on AND of course archive issue(s), etc. BUT they seem to be resolved...ideaist
