Corporations and their feelings

I have to say that as a foreigner I find the whole deal in the US of boycott / support faceless corporations based on their political / religious / social stands very interesting.
I'm sure it has been going on for a while, but I think I first noticed it back when a US company called "Chick-fil-a" (for those not in the US, it's similar to fast food restaurant KFC.
I believe the owner publicly opposed gay marriage
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ch…now, I have never heard of this restaurant before, but now It was all over the news, anti-gay people chanting full of happiness STANDING IN LINE TO BUY CHICKEN because they didn't like gay people.
And of course, pro-gay crowds protesting outside and calling for a boycott.
Now, bare in mind, I did not know about this place before this, now it's all over the news and I start asking friends how is the chicken there? and the response was always "Actually, it's pretty tasty!" or "You know what I think I liked them better than KFC".
Now I'm pro-gay rights, I'm not an activist by any means but I think they should have the right to marry and everything, but I have to say.. I started getting curious about this chicken. It was all over the news, everyone I knew had tried it before they announced their stance and I started to felt that I missed my chance to taste that delicious chicken
Then I took a step back and realized all this circus about the stance of a chicken restaurant on gay rights sounded hilarious to me. People were really passionate about sharing their personal views by buying or not buying chicken, it was incredible.
Fast forward to this past weekend (we are skipping a bunch of similar cases with uber, starbucks, and who knows what else I have missed) and we pause on good all, taste-less Budweiser with their super-bowl ad (popular sport event in the US, similar to rugby but with motorcyle helmets)
People are going bananas over this, either supporting it or against it, everyone talks about it trending on twitter with the hashtag #BoycottBudweiser
A beer you are not supposed to drink, unless it's a gift from someone else, now is getting so much press it's ridiculous.
As a non-native american you can figure my stance on this, but I can't just support this watered down excuse for a beer just because of their stance, so like it or not, I'm going to be grouped with the rest of the boycotters.
Also, it's been long since I read anything about the chicken spot, do you guys think it's bad if I just go in for a chicken taste? I still want to try what this sexual-controversy chicken is all about.

Who the fuck would boycott Budweiser because they highlighted the history that the company was started by an immigrant? The same assholes that used to drink that watered down shit daily, no doubt.

I boycott foods / stores / beers / drinks that taste like shit... outside of that I fill up my basket and belly w/whatever the fuck sounds tasty / healthy at that moment.
If you're not for gay marriage but you make good chicken... I'm still probably going to eat your chicken.
If you're an atheist hippy but you know you're way around an amazing baked potato... I will still buy your baked potato and devour it.
I may leave both establishments saying to myself "what a bunch of assholes... but fuck I love their food... " cuz no matter what—it's going to end up a turd in my toilet come morning.
:)
- Agreed, for the most part. I once stayed at a Trump hotel. It was amazing. I won't stay at one again though.monospaced

Isn't Budweiser a ripoff of the original german Budweiser Bier? Where did this fancy immigrant story come from?
Not that it matters, white Americans have zero ties to their ancestors and culture. They will never relate or see that commercial and think: "Oh yea... I'm like those brown people too, I should understand their struggle. I should remember what the constitution says or what the statue of liberty stands for"
Also interesting: Americans would cross into Mexican territory all the time, settle on the land in what is now Texas. The Mexican government allowed this as long as they obeyed Mexican law.
Eventually Americans wanted the land to be theirs and be part of the US, using the logic that they've been there for years and have raised families there. This led to the incidents at the Alamo. Yet Mexico is portrayed as the villain in that story.
Funny how things work out. :)

I'm against political correctness of any kind so I like the ad regardless of whether I back their message or not.
We're all going to die one day. The things we all get worked up over, when you stop to think about it, is so silly in the grand scheme of things.
