If in the next five or ten years there was technology introduced that would allow us to have an implant or tattoo on your hand that would contain all your personal data and banking information would you get it?
This would be used to facilitate scanning of course. Purchases, I.D. etc.
Why or why not?

why an implant or tattoo? an iris scan will suffice.
In Singapur it starts 2017:

- it's just like a fingerprint, connected to a database that unlocks services that are linked to it. So instead of typing a PIN you look somewheremekk

If? More like when...

Naaah. Because technology becomes obsolete so quickly. Imagine sticking a rotary phone up your ass having the cord come out and then you'd plug the phone into the wall whenever you wanted to use it. 10 years later wireless phones come out and now you have a cord coming out of you ass. Faaack.

I prefer the idea of decentralized trustless networks like Bitcoin. Maybe it could be tied to some biometric identifier like your fingerprint but I don't see why the chip implant would be neccessary.

An implant like this is already possible for years, just extract the RFID-chip of your CC and put another one from your smart home device if you have them in a container. They are sized so small that they can be injected to your palm outpatiently.
So then instead of holding your CC or phone to the device you just wave your hand above it like a Jedi, same procedure.

@yuekit
so wouldn't a chip or tattoo be considered the hardware that would need to be loaded with software?
how could a different country I.D. you from fingerprint if you are not in their database?
- Well the whole idea of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency is that it doesn't need a traditional database. Authentication happens using a decentralized network.yuekit
- The transactions then all get written into the blockchain, which everyone downloads. So it's a bit like torrents in that respect.yuekit
- I travel a lot and more than a couple times lost one of my cards. Was thinking would be nice if Bitcoin become more mainstream so I could just pay with my phoneyuekit
- and not worry about payments being tied to a piece of plastic...or even exchanging foreign currency for that matter :)yuekit
- I was listening to an interview, pot shops in WA and OR are using bitcoin for transactions to get around the banking restrictions.HijoDMaite

To answer the question: No, I would not.
1. The movement that I have to do with my hand is the same with or without wallet, no benefit.
2. tech is outdated within months but stuck in my body
3. may be unhealthy
4. putting all relevant personal data on one chip that can be read without my notice from varous devices and saved across multiple international coprorations.. hell no thanks. almost every single one of them had major IT security issues in the past few years
5. tech like this is here to trick you into buying more useless crap (e.g. paying without confirming, just go somewhere and grab it, will be put to your CC automatically)
6. tech like this requires more shit around. e.g. I would need to replace the locks in my flat if I wanted them to open by Jedi-palm

i'm sure it will be pushed and marketed as a way to simplify your life, not just to be a better consumer.
what about the question of governments demanding this from all it's citizens? as in it becomes the law. I don't see this as inconceivable.

- as you can see in china with Sesame Credit it's happening, just the identification part is missing but they will introduce that soonsted

we'd learn to hack and/or remove it within days
