For those of you looking to work on something creative I propose weekly assignments on a topic. I would like to see how we all work around the same subject. It would be done on any medium (photography, illustration, spoken word), seeing how it goes we might be able to narrow it down to a specific medium on certain weeks.
The topics could be anything, some of the first things that came to mind can be found on the Shit QBNers Say thread.
This is how I see the schedule:
Thursday: Choose topic for the weekend
Friday-Sunday: Work on the topic
Monday-Tuesday: Submissions
Wednesday: DiscussionWhat are some topics you would like to see and is anybody up for it?
A placeholder document to keep track of things:

Nutter has destroyed my creative confidence. The ten minute fuck. I'm out.
- Me too lmaosublocked
- SorryNutter
- it's a compliment ;)monospaced

I don't think a week is enough time.
I'd like to see QBN finally produce a book. Not the black book project, that's doomed, but a collection of designs/illustrations on a single theme (a travel poster for your city, a map of your neighbourhood, two glyphs from a language you don't speak, a nature scene, something that fits in a square – that sort of thing).
- Good ideas, I thought about compiling it in some form if it ever works.ORAZAL
- I thought of limiting it to the weekend to keep it light and people could hop on or off whenever they like.ORAZAL
- You could have it for sale on blurb.com too, so each purchase is print on demand.monospaced
- If I ever make anything I would just post the pdf so anybody can print it how they see fit.ORAZAL
- of course it's enough time - pull ya finger out - its not the Sistine chapel.fadein11
- Create an InDesign template for download.Hayoth

+1
Though I'm really busy that doesn't mean it's not a good idea.

I thought about this on my way to work.
I like the idea of everyone working on the same topic. Maybe a collaboration, I'm down for anything.- anything?monospaced
- ^ Not like that, pervMaaku
- now that his girlfriends in canada with yuri he's down for everything...oey
- yuri is never going to live in canadamonospaced

After Nutter's post yesterday I was going to bite his entire style and try that "10 minute a day" thing, but this sounds more my speed. I'm interested.

Nice idea, I'm in

I'm up for this - will be good to see who is actually willing to show their ideas/work on this creative forum.
Orazal - are you curating as in choosing the suggested topic? Not sure I am comfortable with that - how about the QBN mod chooses weekly topic from suggestion list?- will be nice to see the very vocal yuri/omg/set/touch_c... type characters sharing their stuff.fadein11
- +1Moderator
- what are you not comfortable with? what an odd thing to sayGnash
- those users won't show shitmonospaced
- If you're not comfortable with a topic you don't have to participate, hop on or off when you like.ORAZAL
- If Moderator wants to send in work and get a shot at choosing a topic it's fine with.ORAZAL
- Also, it would be nice if you keep your personal feuds out of this.
Thanks.ORAZAL - lol - okay. just would be nice to see some of their work. but yes you are right and agree on other points also.fadein11

Nice idea! Inspired by my post yesterday i guess? :)
I would do one assignments /month tho. Otherwise its too much work and will quickly become a task added to the pile of tasks.
- Not everyone has to participate. Just jump in when you can. Hopefully at least 5-10 do it each time.monospaced
- No Benny, is an old idea. I was just waiting for the right time.
Monospaced seems to have gotten the spirit of it.ORAZAL
- Bennn1
also, i would avoid stupid topic so we can put those artwork in our portfolio afterward, maybe
- damn, I have to make a new list now :/Gnash
- it's all about the portfoliobklyndroobeki
- If you know QBN you know there will be a stupid topic in there. This is where the fun is.ORAZAL
- I'd rather avoid stupid topics also - as he says would be nice for work to have some value in portfolio etc. I will participate when topic is interesting.fadein11
- If your work is good it should be portfolio worthy regardless of the topic.
I would like to know what you consider serious topics.ORAZAL - My intention was to do some creative and fun as a group.ORAZAL
- don't have to be serious just not stupid - post some and I will tell you which I like.fadein11
- exactly ^^Bennn
- Maaku2
Don't know how the timing will be but if it was a weekly topic (just saying), it could be that the last week of every month it's a fun topic, the rest of the month is serious/portfolio stuff.
Same if it was bi-weekly, one and one.

This week's topic: Rashomon
Post your submissions Monday & Tuesday.- what is that?monospaced
- GTS mono! GTS! (i had to do the same thing hahaha)capn_ron
- It's a film by Akira Kurosawa. It's a classic, though I've never got around to watching it.i_monk
- I honestly thought everyone knew about the movie even if they haven't seen it.ORAZAL
- That's because you live inside of a mirrored sphere, infinitely self-reflecting.detritus
- #staywokeORAZAL
- if GTS means Google That Shit, I did ... I guess it's an interesting concept ... could be done in an abstract mannermonospaced
- I only know GTS (Google That Shit) cause of the hip kids i hang out with. I agree, kinda fun concept plus a classic movie to get cultured in.capn_ron
- I thought it was "Ghost in The Shell" at first.i_monk
- i'll send you my submission late next week. you don't know about kurosawa, mono?terry_cloth
- I think the goal was M to W. Never heard of this before, no.monospaced
- canoe-2
Yeah right, I have to launch an ecommece site, finish up a portal interface, and keep 4 other projects on track.
But seriously, as in?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ra…Or as in, a cover for the movie?
If you're putting together a study group, you may want to write AT LEAST ONE sentence on the topic you want to explore.... for example... perspective.
- I think the idea is to do whatever you want. not turn this into work. ideas for me are poster, title type, illustration or even some photoshop play.capn_ron
- I'm leaving it as broad as possible for the first one.ORAZAL
- I mean something as simple as - "A movie from..."canoe
- I didn't see that at all capn... i thought it was more about the idea, not film advertisingmonospaced
- Same herecanoe
- And the idea being - perspective - multiple perspectives - empathy, lack thereof... kind of cool to try and put that into 2d without being a convoluted or...canoe
- literal geezercanoe
- I'm pretty sure you can do whatever you want. am i wrong here? maybe i'm missing the point. I like drawing type, so I'm going to play with the movie type.capn_ron
- Yes capn_ron, my idea was that you could do anything. I thought some might propose a type treatment.ORAZAL
- This is a weekly thing we have time to explore more specific topics, mediums and presentations.ORAZAL
- For all of you... the flipping movie is about perspective.canoe
- Maaku0
So RASHOMON it is?
- Indeed.ORAZAL
- yep Orazal has chosen one topic and made the decision despite the original idea.fadein11
- What is this original idea you speak of? I did not get the memo.
I foolishly thought I had everything planned out.ORAZAL - Also, I'm still waiting on the fax of the topics that you think are worthy of your time.
#nodramaORAZAL
- Bennn0
