"We can confirm the report that Samsung has permanently discontinued the production of Galaxy Note7," the South Korean company said in a statement issued on Tuesday October 11.
That's a big loss for Samsung.

I dropped my old Galaxy Note 4 so I had to get a new phone yesterday. Went with the S7.
I guess that's all.
(Wait's for downvotes and cyberbullying on notes-->>>)

A new phone built by my company travels in a planes carry on luggage traveling at 666 mph. The planes electrical gets fried causing the jets to shut down. The plane crashes and explodes with everyone trapped inside. Now, should we initiate a recall? Take the number of phones in the field, A, multiply by the probable rate of failure, B, multiply by the average out-of-court settlement, C. A times B times C equals X. If X is less than the cost of a recall, we don't do one.

A new phone built by my company travels in a pair of yeezy jeans traveling for 60 minutes. The phone overheats and causes the cheap shitty material to light on fire burning a mans metrosexual balls so badly he must have transgender surgery. He is happier with his new identity. Now, should we initiate a recall? Take the number of phones in the field, A, multiply by the probable rate of failure, B, multiply by the average out-of-court settlement, C. it's just a name they're discontinuing though ... that and a rare as fuck exploding battery
- yepfadein11
- It's not the battery, but the system that regulates the charge. Someone on XDA explained the technical baloney.face_melter
- Or it may actually be the battery - internet expertise is wild, yo!face_melter
- No idea. But they're still selling the damn phone one way or another.monospaced
- for handheld devices the testing period is 90 days, so something is really not ok @ samsung mobile.sted

I'll wait a few weeks to see if there is anything new. Long shot, but the phone is too good to throw away. If they offer a Note 8 with some nice incentives, I'd snap it up in a heart beat.
I've been looking forward to a new phone and free VR headset, dammit.
