British museum. Give yourself a few hours at least. Lots of cool stuff and free! National Gallery is worth a visit as well. If you want a play. I recommend warhorse.

If you find yourself in Dalston/Haggerston you should check out
www.berberandq.com for amazing food.
Across the road is www.dukesbrewandque.com which is home of Beavertown brewery so some great beers to be had (they also do some mean ribs)and then behind that is Grand Union canal which has a few nice bars and places to check out.

Borough Market on a Saturday Morning - before the tourists get there. Let me know if your around, I'll get you the best cup of tea (not being English - it genuinely is the best tea!) .
Amazing connecting walk along the River Thames.
- Where is the best cup of tea? I'm intrigued.Ranger

Soho's changing but still worth a look.

Greenwich is another good place. Best to come in via the ferry and leave via the DLR through Canary Wharf

You can spend a whole day(s) just wandering around Shoreditch, eating, drinking and so many good shops etc.
Avoid all the obvious tourist traps apart from the big galleries which are all amazing. Tate Modern a must.
London has so many amazing small districts - hours of fun and culture to be had. So worth going off the beaten track a bit.
If you like record shopping - Phonica Records in Soho is amazing (but this isn't off the beaten track at all so I have just contradicted myself)
Covent Garden has some nice shops but a bit touristy. Can walk from Covent Garden to Soho easily.
Also - get the tube everywhere - don't do taxis - you will save a fortune.
I much prefer East London so a bit biased and yes it is a little hipster but just so much good stuff to be found.
Liverpool St Station is a good location to get to and then explore. Spitalfields Market can be interesting and then Shoreditch nearby.
Too much to say really. Amazing city.- And Borough Market as was said below.fadein11
- And Brick Lane.fadein11

Borough Market then up the Shard.
Don't pay the full wack for the trip to the tip (unless you really want to) but just go round the back and go up to the bar. Enjoy a cocktail with views over London - it's pretty special especially when the sun is going down.
