What music do you listen to when you want to focus?

for monotonous work: liquid dnb, goa, trance, electro, techno
for designing:progressive or psychedelic rock, jazz indie pop, hiphop/rap, triphop or ambient

Industrial, thrash metal, darkwave, EBM when I need a lot of momentum on a deadline. Ambient, chillout/lounge, nu-jazz when I'm not under so much pressure.

If I really need to concentrate then I just run a Perc Trax playlist - absolutely fucking grinding techno always pulls me through.
Music with vocals, even thrash and hardcore end up being a distraction - oddly enough, the thudding and screeching smooth me out like nothing else if i'm stressing. Maybe because I enjoy listening to it.

There's a lot of talk about using video game soundtracks for this sort of thing as they are written to be engaging yet non intrusive
