I think I still have a few stickers left. And I still wear my "refresh" shirt once in awhile.
- Continuity0
Scarabin (I think? Do you remember this?) sent me some of the white stickers he has kicking around, a few years ago.
The sad thing is I've not stuck them on anything yet ... guess I thought they'll never be made again, and I should hang on to them, un-stuck.
- 'had', not 'has kicking around'.Continuity

I can't remember what my original name was on here it's been so long. I can't even remember what the site was called when I joined (prior to Newstoday).
Kinda bizarre thinking I'll probably die here too. Wow. Such profound thoughts so early in the morning.

For a better tomorrow.
Who is Newstoday?
You, QBN, Mike Buzzard, Chris Lea and Daniel Vena.Who is QBN?
QBN is the Quorporation Broadcasting Network created and curated by J.K. & Folkert. How is Newstoday different from other portals?
Same concept, different process. Where most design related portals generate 'native content' and publish this for visitors to view, Newstoday is based on public participation. The main 'traffic generator' is the Newstoday Broadcast (NTB) where well-known designers post interesting links and ideas. By now opening the rest of the Broadcast section for public use, these users benefit from the already generated traffic and thus are able to receive a large audience that was previously impossible to generate, mainly because the established and well respected portals understandably post only the highest quality links. Unfortunately this does prevent relatively unknown talents to get the exposure they need and deserve, while the Newstoday Public Broadcast system allows undiscovered talent to surface and be viewed by a large number of people.Does this actually work?
Yes. Newstoday receives 100+ emails daily, expressing gratitude from visitors that benefit from the portal, many of which are young designers trying to get their work viewed, but also a good deal of these from companies that are grateful for the 'through-the-roof' traffic they receive when being linked on Newstoday, which gives them additional exposure and new clients. This also shows that a large number of our audience comes from the corporate world.Who is Newstoday's audience?
Visitors come from all over the world, and mainly from Europe, Asia and the United States. Statistics reveal that the largest part of our audience (around 92%) uses Newstoday purely for the links and content and hardly ever participates in the Public Broadcast. This might give users a skewed view of our audience at times, because the people that voice their ideas and opinions (8% of our audience) tend to dominate the space from time to time. How much traffic does Newstoday receive?
Our audience grows everyday. Currently (June 2002) we receive over 20 million hits monthly.Would you describe Newstoday as a 'Community Site'?
No. We have no aspiration to run an online community, as stated before Newstoday is a launch-board for pure inspiration, generated by its visitors. Is Newstoday sponsored by Diesel?
Newstoday & Diesel have an exclusive relationship and will reveal more in the near future. What is the relationship between Newstoday and Fidget Magazine?
Currently Fidget Magazine & Newstoday are collaborating to bring you more content. Additional information will be revealed in the near future. What's this I hear about Newstoday and censorship, free speech and public voice?
We do censor the content in the PV-AN (the discussion forum). We understand that conversations containing highly sensitive and potentially offensive subjects at times bring about interesting conversation, however Newstoday is not the place for these discussions. There are plenty of forums on the Internet for open discussion and general topics. We keep Newstoday focused on design related topics, because this is what our audience expects and is the soul reason why people visit the Web site. This censoring usually means that specific threads will be removed from time to time, which unfortunately but understandably generates some agitation among the more 'dedicated' PV-AN users. We created the PV-AN to allow more 'air time' in the Public Broadcast because people would start discussions and conversations in this area and seemingly needed a dedicated space for this type of content. As mentioned before, the majority of our members (92%) does not use the PV-AN or the PBS and simply come for the links. We are not interested in hits or traffic since we operate Newstoday for free. We are interested in quality control.I have seen some threads remain that aren't design related. Why do some stay and some go?
If we glance at the PV-AN and find that the the forum is beginning to look like a regular chatroom, we will go in and remove various threads and leave others even if the topics were of good quality and clean discussions. We must keep the majority of topics design related and sometimes this will come at a cost. The majority of PV-AN users understands this process and the general purpose of what we are trying to do, while a small minority unfortunately feels the need to compare this censoring with bigger concepts like an attack on free speech. We try to remain neutral and steer clear from engaging in discussions about this subject, since it is futile and will never reach a compromise on both ends. (We know this by experience.) Furthermore, we have introduced a PV-AN Moderator in an effort to stimulate good conversation and a quality environment. How do you choose which sites become 'QBN-Certified'?
Any Web site that makes our mouths drop and encourages us to open Photoshop. How do you decide who is invited to become a 'Newstoday Broadcast Editor'?
Our Newstoday Broadcast Editors are people that we highly respect and that are highly respected by the genreal public; that inspire us and who we believe would Broadcast interesting sites, work and ideas. Is Newstoday sponsored by Media Temple?
Yes. Mediatemple is our super fast, kick ass host. We will die for them. Why do you run this site for free?
We have a love for the medium and design in general that far exceeds the love for money.Do I have to come to Newstoday everyday?
Yes. Daily visits promote general intelligence and is beneficial to your health. You will live longer.- oh shiet, i just wanted to post the first 3 paragraphs :)sted
