hey guys... so we are trying to advertise using google adwords... but they don't like the site... in particular the homepage...
not a big deal... homepage needed a big redesign anyways...
the site in question sells information products in a niche market...
the problem is its not like google is really forthcoming with information... so i'm not quite sure WHAT to design...
anyone have favorite homepage?
nothing too complex...
just trying to get an idea of what else is out there in "corporate/ecommerce/sales" land...
i know its not the flashiest or most awesome projects but it pays the bills. :)

Your first question should be "What does Google not like about our homepage?".
I had this recently on my business site, having not bothered updating it in years, I suddenly found myself being shat upon in SEO terms because of a couple of design 'decisions' that meant it wasn't suitable for mobile. A couple of weeks on the second page of search results was enough to encourage me to get my act together and make a mobile version.
if you haven't already, stick your site through this and find out what it is Google's not happy with...

hey dude... thanks for the reply...
they don't like the fact that it pretty much only is there to collect emails.... there's navigation on the page as well... but no other content...

btw.. .this site was WHACKED back in april 2011 with WP pharma hack (google it to see how F'ed up that thing is)... then we got it cleaned out and secured the site....
and google had their panda or penguin update.... we were using xrumer (a link building software) because google wanted you to have more links....
(jcpennys was using it and got whacked as well but they were ranking #1 for thousands of terms - google it to see the story)
- Ah, have you asked your hsot for a different IP? I've had to do this twice over the past 4 years. Not good where emails and Spamboxes are concerned :\detritus
- havent, its on MT grid system... but so far no issues, they got in from an old WP install I forgot about and never updated.dconstrukt

I had a couple WP hacks in the past couple years and you're right - they were a pain to clean up. Sites are all good now and my security monitoring is much better, but the time I spent figuring all of it out, scanning files, editing stuff... I hope I never have to do that again.
