early flash was fun! early ActionScript was fun, the... well, you know.... the dark side of random complication took over....

I miss it... made a TON of money with it (still do at times... but not building the fun shit I used to)
It became useful when they switched to AS3... AS2 made it fun to dick around in... but AS3 opened doors.
... yep... I miss it. :(

I got the inspiration to learn AS for fun from flight404 and levitated.net. before that it was just about the timeline and reverse designed animation. made the first ever pornsite using flash integrated video(we used movie trailers in the header :), loved to build scripted animations, created some nice sites using AS and XML only. realized that js is the same so I moved to jquery and learned the basics of php and mysql because the ajax sht.
crazy that some people can't believe this knowledge before I show them what I can do :(
I can't wait for the next tool what i can use to learn something new, that's why i'm a bit disappointed about animate cc :)- have you looked into making scripted animation w/GSAP for browser-based stuff? I'm neck-deep in JS now... you can still create some pretty cool experiencesPonyBoy
- @pomyBoy, glad greensock is still going
@sted - started off with AS2, ended up in python and now c++ using qt5. stick to fun stuff!!mugwart - python and c++ is beyond my mind :) i'm just a designer with some engineering vein.sted
- currently I love QT :) It's like a bridge between me and the app coders, and it helps a lot to understand C :)sted
- qt5 is lovely but a steam learning curve. Great for getting your idea on every system possible. Sort of a serious flash!mugwart
- c++ was cluster f!ck until I found a set of decent videos which allowed me to actually start understanding of what people a lot more intelligent than I were saymugwart
- @sted let me know if I can help out (making no claim to be a competent coder!!)mugwart

I remember trying to get into during the web's golden years but couldn't wrap my head around it. Then I was forced to learn in order to produce banner ads.
- Started to learn AS3 as a result which piqued my interest. A bit too late in the game, unfortunately...duckseason
