no seriously how is this nasty - I am interested in what you don't like:
https://www.google.com/design/sp…- Material Design is brilliant. An incredible amount of thought went into their methodology. I don't use any of those devices, but love the usage guide.mg33
- yep - there are plenty of things to complain about but it's fucking great.fadein11
- other things*fadein11
- it's pretty dull. though I think that's why it works for background OS/core apps.inteliboy
- yea I mean, remember when certain apps had really over designed UI? That shit was too much...sofakingback

Pebble's time UI is pretty nice.
As is the LG webOS TV interface.
Same guy behind both I think. The WebOS interface might use the EnyoJS "Moonstone" UI toolkit.
Also check out WebOS "mochi". This was HPs next gen UI that never made it to market. Former HP UI guys went to Apple and Google and brought that flat design thinking with them.

You know all those design theories we've read and all that useful information that has been written about design; color, layout, etc
I feel like google material design really, truly used that information to its advantage and crafted a pretty remarkable system.
Wether you like it or not or you think its boring or whatever... as a designer you have to admire and respect the effort and the approach.
I almost feel like its a point taken back by designers for all the fucking: make the logo bigger, make it just like apple, its too empty, use more interesting fonts, make it pop, etc, bullshit we've had to endure for years.
I shit you not, at times I lose hope working on certain projects. Why the hell do I even try. Then I see something amazing like this and I think: there it is, thats what it should be about.
rant over. *sips coffee, returns to app design that has no wireframes because the client felt it wasn't necessary.
