Hi I'm looking for gif animation artists or a crash course on how to go about making them.
Is it best to use photoshop to animate them or another Adobe product like... Animate CC?

i use photoshop to optimise/export but use whatever, if you want to keep yr gifs small you just have to be keep in mind the limitations of the format when you create your animation... (choose between a load of frames, high resolution or colour depth and mask off any non animated sections).

BTW: I'm assuming you're referring to the lost art of making optimised looping animations BTW and not some sort of anarchist gif art movement where a 200MB confused john travolta makes my 2 year old iPad shit it's cacks.

I use after effects, I'm doing gifs for big companies, and they want crazy things, so I just do it on after effects, then export to QT Animation, open in PS and export the gif from there.

I mean, you can use everthing you can, then export it to image sequence or qt animation and export it from photoshop.

the last time I used Flash to create one, I had to redo it in PS - the colours and file size were just fucked.
Maybe Animate has new capability, but I'd go with PS if possible
