I went the other way.... I gave less of a fuck as i got older.
My reasoning... Life. I figured out failing over or nutsackin myself was far less painful getting your ass dumped or working like a chump and then giving it all away. At least you can enjoy skating.

So I'm kind of obsessed with skating again.
It's like I'm 16, except that I only have about 2 hours per week to actually get out there instead of hours on end everyday after school.
With the little time that I have, I'm working on my flow in the bowls and transition skating.
When I was young I was all about making single tricks. I didn't grow up with many skateparks and I couldn't piece together a good line in a park for my life.
To help me get in the right mindset (or really, just because I wanted to) I put together another set up with some old and new parts:
9.5" Elephant Street Axe deck, which is totally rad.
58mm Bones SPF wheels taken off my original setup
Indy 159s I had laying around in my garageThe ride is pretty sweet. Good blend of old school meets new school.

BRAVO...and respect!
Man, I just looked at my skate that I've assembled 5 years ago when I mad the same decision.
I was living in Amsterdam and there was this awesome indoor with skating lessons.
I was already throwing myself from every ramp after 4 months but then I had an issue in my foot and till today even to go play basket can become a problem for me.
I go sometimes, and now with the good weather I decided to start again.
I'm also 40.
then IO login in QBN and see your thread.
Gives me the confidence to continue.
Have fun!

I'm able to skate pretty well, in a straight line. The stops are still a little tricky and no slides or tricks yet but damn it's pretty exciting!
I started off for almost a week standing on it in the grass to get a feel for the board and work on balance. People jogging by on our path gave me weird looks but whatever. I'm sure a 40 something guy wearing gear skateboarding on a lawn looks weird but this is America damnit.
My sons have picked it up much faster. Our 6 year old shows ok interest but our 3 year old is a skating freak. He's fearless, crashes often, and keeps trying.
Thanks again for all the great advice and now that I know how to properly hold a skateboard I give stink eyes to the dopes who don't.

Rollerskating, Skateboarding and Snowboarding, it's a similar balance and weight distribution.

Ive been skating to work everyday I can. I stopped trying to do tricks. Just ollie over obstacles.
But lately Ive been thinking of making an electric skateboard.
Not a longboard. That shit makes no sense in the city.

Been surfing all my life and recently got a carver skateboard with the C7 surf front truck. Best thing I've bought in years! Never skated other than playing about with a couple mates when I was a kid 15 years ago. Great fun to cruise about on, but also generates speed like a surfboard and turns so tight.

I guess it doesn't burn much calories. I prefer surfing.

used to skate a lot back in the day.
got back into it a few years ago, hitting some parks etc. then broke my collar bone going down hill.
