For home lightweight use, nothing crazy. Replacing my 2010 15-inch Macbook Pro. At home I use my iPad 95% of the time. When I do need a 'computer', its cumbersome.
So, the question is, should I wait a bit longer see if anything gets upgraded or pull the trigger?

For real lightweight use why not save a grand and get a $600 chrome book or something?

- Have you used a chromebook? The OS is complete shit. Stick with the ipad.section_014
- Stick with neither if you plan on getting any design work done. And no, those Adobe apps don't count at all.CyBrainX

If you use your iPad 95% of the time, why spend over a grand on a laptop, unless you intend to do work on it? Don't get the issue.
I have a Macbook air which I got second hand and it works fine for basic design work, Logic studio and some general film watching.

I would chose the Air over the new MacBook anytime, it's also very light and its just much faster.
Why do you buy a laptop when you use the iPad mostly?

Gotta say. Macbooks are a lot of dough. For the first time in 15years I don't do any work at home so I actually have a slight regret at spending the kind of cash I did on one las christmas. Just habbit really. Especially as it replaced the 17" one I had which was great because of the screen size.
Get an Air or chromebook mate.
Considering you never use it makes it even crazier!

I bought my wife the gold 13" one. It's dope. Especially if you're just using it for light home use -- way better than using an iPad IMO. Ridiculously thin and light.

Aye, I think the Air is underrated as a general-use machine. I have a first gen. 11" - it has no bells or whistles at all - 2GB ram, 64GB SSD, and a tiny screen. But. It runs Photoshop CS5/6 and can even handle Cinema4D and (limited) rendering from Vray - the same size as an iPad, it is my perfect travel machine.

Too late. He pulled the trigger.
