What's the difference between a UI Designer, Visual Designer, Interface Designer, Web designer? They seem very similar to me.
- No difference really. Some probably just like the ring of one over another. It's dumb.jtb26
- So I can call myself a UI designer nowpinkfloyd
- I was hoping there was a punchline to the question... :/PonyBoy
- Whenever I see job descriptions for UI Designer and Interface Designer they seem to be looking for someone who’s worked on apps, games or software; While Visual/Web Designer not necessarily the case. For me, the distinction is the designer will be working on a “product” vs. selling a “product”.Complexfruit

- So glad I'm just a designer and don't have to touch web shitemonospaced
- mono, I wish I'd made the decision to stay away from web, and concentrate on poster, radio and TVCs. But no, I had to get into web design, or whatever the fuck it is now, first. Ugh.Continuity

I still have not found the true value of a UX developer. All of the UX developers that I worked with provided me with wireframes that I had to redesign because not one of them understood website design, layout form and functionality....essentially useless.
I haven't met a UX developer/designer who actually went to school for UX development or has a degree in this field of study. I am almost certain that UX is a made up title to help up-sell a website and or mobile design.
- YEs but you're talking about a UX developer not UI developer...world of difference there buddyukit2
- Agreed, I was just interjecting the UX position into the convo.organicgrid
- Depends on the size of your firm. most ux people do presentations along with telling a story of the UIyurimon

A UX designer is more focused about the user's experience of the design. They think about the emotions and psychology of that experience.

UI Developer = The Artist Formerly Known as Web Designer, with more emphasis on you using a text editor and less emphasis on fucking pixels in PS.

Someone who develops the user interface. The front end.
- ukit20
Gonna go out on a limb and say...a person who develops UIs.
- ukit20
As in front end developer. But knowing how many random terms and titles get thrown in this industry around it could really be anything.
- section_0140
I'd say that the term is synonymous with "Front End Developer". Which, from my understanding, is someone who takes static designs and converts them to HTML/CSS. With some jQuery skills thrown in too.
This role becoming increasing more technical (ie. lots more programming), imo. I could see a "Mid End Developer" role becoming more commonplace for writing the Angular, Ember, React, etc. code.
