They moved the graves but they never moved the bodies!

Big budget Hollywood horror movies are everything but scary. Everything is too polished, everyone are too good looking. A good horror movie needs to be rough with unknown actors, it needs to look sketchy and grainy and unpolished. Thats why the old horror movies are the best.
- Original Poltergeist wasn't a low budget movie.fadein11
- Budget: $10.7 million
wasn't a high a budgetbenfal99 - Return of the Jedi had 45$millions in budget, same year.benfal99
- < 10million budget back then was NOT a low budget movie.fadein11
- <this. 10 mill was a pretty high budget for a movie back in 1982Akagiyama
- It wasn't as cookie cutter as the Hollywood films of today thoughukit2
- what befall says is true - desite the budget, it still had a gritty creepy dangeorus look to it.inteliboy
- this remake is full of pretty white faces, perfect hair, and friendly polished lighting.inteliboy
- we all agree on that. gritty look is down to 1970s/80s technicolour film stockfadein11

I doubt this will be anything near as good as the Babadook

My big takeaway from this trailer is that it's now some kind of horror film, and for me that's a huge problem. The original film, which I consider one of my favorites, I never considered horror. I always thought of it primarily as a family movie that happens to include a heavy dose of fiction. Sure, a guy hallucinates his face melting, and there are some scary moments here and there, especially for young children, but it was always sorta fun in that Spielberg kind of way.
- the crawling steak, the fun with chairs, and the love and longing for her lost daughter aren't terrifyingmonospaced
- mid trama is fun for the children :)yurimon

For the most part remakes are only good for the novelty and you forget them immediately after they come out. I guess it's the nature of the film industry these days that you take a safe bet on a proven brand (whether remake or endless superhero sequels) rather than risking on a new idea.

it's hard to watch a safe, predictable remake trailer of a classic after freshly seeing birdman. creating something amazing and breaking new ground is still possible.

The trailer actually looks a lot better than I thought it would be but I'm a little bit disappointed they didn't use an little old freaky lady again. I'm glad they kept the clown part in there. Also I won't have to explain this shirt I've been wearing for the past few years to anyone under 35 anymore.

The original is full of awe and mystery, creepiness, and batshit absurdity. This one looks like it's all jump scares.

Retelling or reimagining stories is as old as storytelling itself.

my thoughts are they'll never be able to replicate the terror i felt as a kid watching the tree attack the other kid. also, the clown.
- Well ya you're not a kid any morepango

Please stop remaking things! The original was great and can't be improved with cgi effects. Sorry hollywood.
