Anyone made the move from a smartphone back to a regular basic nokia style phone to cut down on the amount of alerts, distractions, beeps and uncontrolled checking of media?

No, but I would love something smaller (length and width) with all the same capabilities. It's not the alerts as much as I don't want to carry around a big ass phone all the time. I still have a 4S because of this, and it's larger than I would prefer.
I'm sure there's enough of us out there that aren't glued to their phones 24/7, who want something smaller.

I wish there were more that wanted smaller phones. The "mini" versions don't seem to have been that successful. But let's wait until Apple comes out with their rumored sml, med, lrg to -re-invigorate interest in a smaller phone.
I am also on a 4S still. Love the size, don't love the glass and weight.

I was very happy to see that my old dumphone Nokia, that's got a dodgy screen after being soaked in a tragic cider-in-pocket- related incident, still works,
I've been swearing at my Nexus5 a lot recently, I might start double-wielding.

install an app which controlls access to other apps, keep password on a piece of paper at work

... simplify....maybe this can become a badge of honor, like fixed gear bikes.... but hey, I like my fixed gear bike a lot more than I ever liked my old motorola razor phone.

I like having email and GPS. The rest of the phone is not important.

I use a cheap samsung "feature" phone, and carry my nexus 7 for everything else, I'm always around wifi so it works great for me.
I also have a used iPhone that I use for testing websites/apps
