I remember a while back some news headline read "MEXICAN WINS [SPORTING EVENT]". I forgot which event it was.
And lots of enraged morons took that as racist and complained.
To some overly-politically-correct people, even just the word "Mexican" by itself is racist or a put-down.
If it was "ITALIAN WINS [SPORTING EVENT]", would anyone consider that racist? Probably not at all.

as an immigrant... I think it's a cultural thing. In the US, "Italian" is almost considered a race but French people are considered "white", when in reality they are both "latin".
Also, I feel like here in the US, you don't have to have blonde hair/ blue eyes to be considered white. I'm still trying to figure out how that works myself. Just be aware that these terminologies change depending on what country you live, so chances are, you will always offend someone..- I prefer to be classified as Caucasian.Frosty_spl

"Today, in 2014, after an influx of perhaps 50 million in 50 years, legal and illegal, no longer from Northwest Europe, or Europe at all, but Latin America, Africa, Asia, the Middle East, of every race, color, creed, culture and language we seem less a nation than some mammoth Mall of America. An economy, but not a country."
Never takes long for these people to get around to whats really bothering them.
