After a decade of using MT's email, I've been advised to move my company's email to a 'business' email. Their suggestion was Google Apps or Outlook 365.
Anyone have experience with those (on a business level)? Pros/cons?
Thanks

Google apps is great. When in a pinch and you HAVE to use webmail in browser - google's webmail is far superior to anyone else's. And zero learning curve for those who already have a gmail account.

We have google apps, but have always had issues with Apple Mail. It makes multiple copies of emails, searching is a bitch, etc. If you use Apple Mail (I'm guessing any desktop app), it might not play well. My understanding it has to do with the way google implements its IMAP which is non-sandard.
I would check into other solutions. I looked into rackspace hosted email and it look great. also zoho.com is good for free accounts up to 5 (i think).

Google apps is just Gmail with a custom domain. Gmail is great.

Has anyone tried the Office 365 approach? It seems for a similar price, you get Office (and unlimited storage), but I've never heard of anyone using their business email via O365.

^ My girlfriend's workplace is using O365 after using standard Office licensing for years, and she loves the functionality of it, and the ability to login from multiple locations. It also makes more sense for her workplace because they use Sharepoint.
I've fiddled around with it and I think that provided your internet connection is really fast, it's a good system. I got frustrated because of the lag switching between a draft email and incoming emails, but I was on a 4mbps service shared by heaps of users. My personal preference would be gmail.

Office 365 gives you MS exchange functionality like active directory, which is pretty nice and a huge step beyond Gmail. I'd also look into a local provider that does email, particularly exchange, as you might want a vendor that can manage users, technical issues, etc. Sometimes its nice to have someone local that can sit across from you and figure out your needs.
