I havent freelanced in about 8 years. Got someone looking for me to redesign their site, possibly work on some marketing materials. Really not sure what the average is these days for this kind of work.
Don't want to overcharge since I'm not desperate for the money. Just want to give a good fair hourly rate since I may get a lot more work out of this company.

Charge what you feel you're worth, is all it comes down to. Hard to put a number out there for ya.
It's easy to hear the "am I charging too much" voice in your head, and you shouldn't rake a client over the coals, for sure. Production and design cost $$$ though, and you should get your piece.

depend on the client, is it Nike or Timmy's Muffins?

I charge more based on the client and the project. If it's a huge agency, then much more than a small business.
If I have some grunt work during a slow period, I don't change as much as creative projects.
If you're stuck with a recruiter, you haggle with them as much as you can which isn't that much.
