The last thing I saw him in was his appearance on Louis. After rewatching this clip, I now realize how spooky it is.

He's yet another soul that didn't make it through the dark place where severe depression forces you to go.

details emerging
obin Williams tried to slit his wrist with a pocket knife but when that suicide attempt failed he hung himself with a belt.
The Marin County Deputy Coroner says Williams was at home alone Monday when he tried slashing his left wrist, but it only left "acute superficial cuts."
The Coroner says Williams then took a belt, tied it around his neck and secured it between the closet door and door frame. Williams was in a seated position, slightly suspended with his right shoulder against the door.
The Coroner also confirmed TMZ's story ... Robin's personal assistant discovered his body.
The official says the actor had been receiving treatment for depression. As we reported ... Robin had been severely depressed and went to a Minnesota rehab facility last month.

i always said i'd take myself out around his age. it's much more dignified than wasting away in a bed filled with your own shit and piss having to have others care for you.
- I think the medical industry potentially killed him. I wonder if he was on some antidepressant that has suicide side effects.yurimon
- if your athletic you can be active into your 90;syurimon
- yeah, i haven't thought of this since i was a kid... back then i didn't think i'd make it to 30scarabin
- Hopefully you'll have learned a thing or two by that age and won't be so vaincannonball1978

in 1st year in college a young woman that had just moved into our house slit her wrists. we had to kick in her door and rescue her. she survived.

Why does it seem the ones who are genius at what they do have the toughest time in life. They deal with mental illness, depression and or chemical addictions.
I think about others who are are just at the genius level in their fields and so many have gone by suicide or drug overdose (which in some cases is a form of suicide)
Ernest Hemingway
Edgar Allan Poe
Jim Belushi
Amy Winehouse
Hunter S. ThompsonList goes on and on....

Though this is shit, I think it's pretty rad that he was at the very least trying to get help. The fact that his mind still fucking got him highlights how utterly fucking hopeless life can feel when you're severely depressed.
I think people's brain chemistry works for and against them. "Geniuses" (however you qualify that) are likely MORE prone to the lowest of lows because of the heights of their highs. Kind of like a car driving on the highway, cruising along at a high speed and then immediately slowing to the speed limit without warning. Everything feels foreign and kind of pales in comparison. Poor analogy, but...yeah.
I've heard that people with heart conditions are more likely to feel severely depressed and that depression is also potentially a precursor to a heart condition. Robin had open heart surgery some time ago, so...who knows.

So sad. Seemed like such a nice bloke (but obviously hard to tell), and obviously extremely talented.
It's sadly often the case with very talented, or very positive happy people that when they can be so elated and happy they can be equally down and depressed. The emotional scale kinda swings both ways. (Much like being bipolar you have delusions of grandeur and then crippling depression)
