I quite my job at 30 and went alone... definitely haven't always been better off but was the right decision.

I quit my job when I was 29.
One of the best and worst things that I'd ever done for myself.
worst = 401K got hit
best = creative freedom

I am in my hometown spending time with my family. Its actually nice as they are away from the city so has become a kind of reflective rebuilding of some kind. I will not however be doing this ever again. :)

Awesome work. But tell me, how does one just quit working for 6 months and keep alive?

I get a lot from making of videos too - I was a little obsessed with them for a while. Even from older movies like Jurassic park, the making of is fascinating. I hadn't realised Spielberg was going to animate the FX in stop motion!

Sick vid man, great lighting, textures, models, compositing.. really nice. You should do the obligatory breakdown video, those are always great to see.
Congrats and best of luck on your new adventure!

Awesome reel, 3d programs have come a long way.

3d work didn't inspire me at all a few years ago. I was very much into The designers republic type stuff. Over the last few years though there has been a shift of graphic designers applying their styles to 3d work - Maybe this is because of Cinema 4d and how the software is intuitive to use.

Haha Im the opposite. I used to only do 3D for a living for years and switched to web work around 2002 because there was far more work out there for that.
I started in Maya before it was Maya then switched to 3DS Max.

OMG.
Hijacking your thread. I loved the music in your video, it led me to this:
I have lately been listening to the Blow full score soundtrack over and over and over again(from about 3 mins on mainly lol):
The intro to the first link reminds me a lot of the Blow score - so much so I wonder if it was inspired from that movie!?
